Koch Snaps Off Wu

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Zhongmin Wu opened to 1,200 from early position and Bradley Guan called from the hijack. Russell Koch three-bet to 4,700 on the button and Wu also topped up to call.

The J32 flop saw action check to Koch who bet 13,000. Wu called and Guan mucked his hand.

A 6 turn saw both quickly check to the 4 river and Wu took some time before betting 10,000. He was snap-called by Koch, and Koch tabled his AK for the king-high flush. Wu mucked his hand and was left sitting as the short stack at the table with under 20,000 chips.

Matusow on the Wrong End of a Cooler

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

Mike Matusow opened from early position before Damien Gayer three-bet to 2,700 from middle position. When the action got back to Matusow, he four-bet to 12,000, only to be met by a five-bet shove for 23,700 from Gayer. Matusow immediately shook his head in disgust as his spidey senses appeared to kick in. Nevertheless, he reluctantly made the call for around a third of his stack.

Damien Gayer: AA All in
Mike Matusow: KK

Matusow's instincts had been right, as he found himself on the wrong end of poker's classic preflop cooler.

The flop came 72A, giving Gayer top set and leaving Matusow virtually drawing dead.

The 37 completed the runout, improving Gayer to an unnecessary full house as he scored the double-up.

The action checked through on the J turn, but Berry again on the Q river, putting 4,400 into the pot. McKevitt took a minute or so to respond, and then raised to 15,000. Berry wasted no time at all in surrendering the pot, as he immediately returned his cards to the dealer.

The QJ8 flop led to a trio of checks to bring the 7 turn.

Myers put out a bet of 2,000, but was immediately raised by Chalkiotis to 4,000. Pheasant called the raise, and Myers came along also.

Everyone checked the 10 river to go to a showdown.

Myers showed KJ for a pair of jacks with a king kicker, but it was the inferior hand as Chalkiotis revealed AJ before Pheasant mucked his hand.
