Kelly Catches a Miracle Double

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Christopher Kelly moved all in for 19,500 from the cutoff and Kevin Burris put him at risk in the small blind.

Christopher Kelly: KK All in
Kevin Burris: AA

It was a classic cooler, with Kelly's kings crushed by Burris' aces as the flop came 735. The turn, though, brought the K to give Kelly a set, and he made quads on the K river.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" he shouted out, jumping out of his seat and raising his arms up in the air in celebration.

"She's pregnant," someone replied from across the room, generating a round of laughs from this section.

All-Time Money Leader Joins Late, Chips Up

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Bryn Kenney
Bryn Kenney

Bryn Kenney had recently sat down with a fresh stack of 60,000 when he was playing in a pot worth 11,000 on the J939 turn. Kai Hsu checked it from the big blind, and Kenney followed suit on the button.

Hsu checked again on the 6 river, prompting Kenney to fire a bet of 3,100. Hsu called after some thought, but he could not beat Kenney's 76 for a rivered two pair.

Glaser Spikes the River to Bust Matos

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Benny Glaser
Benny Glaser

Comedian Kevin Pollak found himself sharing a table with Mark Newhouse and Benny Glaser. Another tablemate, Jinfeng Huo, then told Pollak it was her first time playing the Main Event.

"My deepest run was in my first one, too. That's how they get you," Pollak said.

Meanwhile, Joao Matos raised to 3,000 on the button and Glaser shoved from the big blind. Matos called for his last 30,000.

Joao Matos: A9 All in
Benny Glaser: 88

Matos took the lead on the 79J flop with a pair, and the J fell on the turn. The river, though, brought the 8 to give Glaser a full house, and Matos was sent to the rail.

Cappiello Holds to Bust Wood

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Candido Cappiello bet 3,500 from the cutoff on a flop of 249 and Luis Vazquez called on the button. Brian Wood then raised to 17,000 in the small blind, and only Cappiello called.

The turn was the 3 and Wood bet 11,000. Cappiello then moved all in, and Wood called for an additional 5,000.

Brian Wood: KJAll in
Candido Cappiello: K9

Wood had a flush draw and needed to improve against Cappiello's pair. The A was no help, and Wood was sent to the rail.

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu raised to 2,700 from the cutoff and was three-bet to 10,000 by Jameel Harris in the small blind.

Negreanu then reached for his selfie stick and turned on his camera as he announced he was all in for 34,400 total. Harris quickly called and hands were revealed.

Daniel Negreanu: AKAll in
Jameel Harris: JJ

It was a fair fight, but the A2Q610 runout favored Negreanu this time after pairing his ace to keep his Main Event run alive.

James Obst

With around 50,000 already in the pot, small blind James Obst committed his last 34,000 on the 7AJ flop. John Misirian was his opponent, and he reluctantly called off in the cutoff.

Lin Doubles With Rockets

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Ren Lin
Ren Lin

Eoghan O'Dea raised to 2,000 first to act and was called by Kyle Smith from directly behind and Krisha Augerot on the button. Ren Lin then counted out a raise to 9,000 and placed it into the middle. Odea tanked for about two minutes and four-bet to 18,000, which got quick folds from Smith and Augerot, but a five-bet to 27,000 from Lin.

O'Dea shoved to put Lin all in and Lin called for 44,000 total.

Ren Lin: AAAll in
Eoghan O'Dea: AQ

Lin had O'Dea crushed with his rockets, and the 37KK2 runout changed nothing — awarding the double up to Lin.

Liebert Continues Strong Day 2d

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert

There were over 17,000 in the middle on a flop that read 8J62 when this hand was picked up.

Kathy Liebert chose to bet 16,000 from early position. Jermain Gerlin was unfazed and made the call.

Both players slowed down with a check on the K river.

Liebert showed A8 for a pair of eights. It was good enough as Gerlin tapped the table, then sent his cards into the muck as Liebert continued to chip up.

The KK5AQ board only improved Whittington to queens full and Schulman quickly left the Horseshoe Grand Ballroom.

Shi Turns the Goods to Send Hebert Packing

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Joseph Hebert
Joseph Hebert

Naixuan Shi raised to 2,200 from late position only to face a three-bet from Joseph Hebert in the hijack to 5,200. Action came back to Shi who made the call.

On the QJ3 flop Shi check-called Hebert's 4,000 continuation-bet for the 9 to peel off on the turn.

The action went check check and the dealer flipped over the 4 as the river. Shi lead out for 15,000 and Hebert raised to 30,000. Shi thought for a while and moved all in. Hebert didn't take long and made the call to table 44 for a rivered set but was unfortunate to have Shi table K10 for the turned nuts and Hebert was sent to the rail.
