Kartik Ved raised to 1,000,000 from the button only for Antonio Vargas to three-bet to 4,000,000 from the small blind. It came back to Ved, who four-bet all in. Vargas didn't take long to make the call.
Kartik Ved: 9♦9♠
Antonio Vargas: K♣5♦
Some danger for Ved on the 5♠Q♣10♦ flop, but when the 8♥ turn and 8♦ river bricked out he was sent the pot for a double up.
Kartik Ved shoved all-in under the gun for 3,500,000 and was called by Michael Plesa in the small blind, leading them to a showdown.
Kartik Ved: A♦J♠
Michael Plesa: K♣J♣
Ved saw a potential double up when the flop dropped 5♠6♣A♣. It was cemented when another A♠ fell on the turn. The 8♦ river was just a formality.
Antonio Vargas opened to 1,000,000 under the gun and Liubomyr Melnyk on the button shoved all-in for 9,000,000. When action got back to him, Vargas called, putting Melnyk's tournament life at risk.
Liubomyr Melnyk: A♣J♣
Antonio Vargas: A♦10♠
Melnyk dominated Vargas, and his lead was strengthened when the flop dropped J♦5♥8♣. The rail supporting Vargas began chanting for a nine, and the 9♣ appeared on the turn, seemingly in response to their prayers, giving Vargas more outs to improve.
Melnyk started muttering in his native language when the 7♣ fell. Vargas and his rail started celebrating over the rivered straight, while Melnyk started groaned in frustration.
The dealer pushed the pot in Vargas' direction as both players graciously shook hands.
Antonio Vargas raised to 1,000,000 from early position and action folded to Kai Cohen, who three-bet to 3,500,000, leaving himself just 3,000,000 behind. Action came back to Vargas, who four-bet enough to put Cohen all in. Cohen snap-called.
Kai Cohen: Q♣Q♦
Antonio Vargas: K♣J♠
No help for Vargas on the 2♦A♦8♦7♠2♣ runout and Cohen was whipped the pot for a double up.
Malcolm Franchi made it 1,000,000 to play from early position, and action folded around to Antonio Vargas in the big blind, who three-bet to 2,500,000. It came back to Franchi, who moved all in and was snap-called by Vargas with the covering stack.
Malcolm Franchi: A♠5♠
Antonio Vargas: Q♣Q♦
A sweat for both on the 3♥Q♠10♠ flop, with Vargas going further into the lead but Franchi still having plenty of outs.
None were forthcoming on the 5♥ turn nor the A♣ river, and Franchi was sent to the rail in sixth place.
Antonio Vargas raised to 1,000,000 and got two callers in Kai Cohen on the button and Malcolm Franchi in the big blind. The flop came 4♣K♠A♣, which all three players checked.
The 7♣ turn dropped and after action passed to him, Cohen fired 1,200,000. Franchi got out of the way but Vargas called.
Both players checked the Q♥ river. Vargas tabled A♦8♣ and took the pot down.
Kai Cohen made it 1,000,000 to play from early position, only to face a three-bet from Kartik Ved in the next seat. Action folded back around to Cohen who double checked the count, which was 2,405,000. Cohen tossed in the call.
Kartik Ved: K♣Q♦
Kai Cohen: A♥9♦
Just the flop Ved was looking for came on the K♥9♥3♣ board to send him into the lead.
No ace or nine to save Cohen on the 4♣ turn nor the 8♦ river, and Ved was sent the pot for a much needed double up.
Michael Plesa shoved all-in for 8,100,000 in middle position and Kartik Ved snap-called, putting Plesa at risk and taking them to showdown.
Michael Plesa: 4♣4♥
Kartik Ved: A♦Q♦
The flop dropped J♣7♥6♣ keeping Plesa's lead. Ved needed one of his over cards to hit the board but the dealer peeled a 8♠ turn and a 10♣ river. The dealer pushed the pot in Plesa's direction for a double up.
