Action was picked up on the river, with a board reading J♥3♠2♠6♠K♣. The under-the-gun player Pierce Mckellar was facing a check-raise from big blind Matthew Miller, following his bet of 4,500,000. Miller had made it 13,400,000, putting Mckellar deep into the tank.
After a lengthy tank, Mckellar shoved for not much more, which garnered a snap-fold from his opponent.
James Little moved all in from the cutoff for 4,200,000, and Robert Georato called from the big blind with the bigger stack.
James Little: A♦A♣
Robert Georato: 9♠9♣
The board went well for Little with 3♥4♥2♠8♥A♥, and a set of aces would secure him a spot to continue for the bracelet.
Andrew Moreno raised to 1,600,000 from early position. John Ripnick opted to re-raise to 4,000,000 from the next seat over in response.
Moreno four-bet jammed before Ripnick called to put himself at risk for 14,400,000.
John Ripnick: A♦K♦
Andrew Moreno: 4♠4♥
Ripnick needed to improve, but the flop gave him additional outs when it came 10♦J♣J♠ to give him counterfeit outs.
Ripnick hit the real thing when he paired up on the K♣ turn to take a big lead with one card to go.
The 7♣ river was safe as Ripnick doubled up.
Yibo Song raised to 1,600,000 from the cutoff, and Vincent Albert moved all in for 9,400,000 on the button. Song paused and then decided to call.
Vincent Albert: 7♦7♠
Yibo Song: 6♥6♣
The board was 9♣8♠J♠J♦10♣, and a straight would win Albert the pot,
Andrew Moreno opened to 1,600,000 on the button, only for John Ripnick to jam for 5,400,000 from the small blind. Moreno pondered his options when the big blind folded, and landed on a call.
John Ripnick: 6♦6♣
Andrew Moreno: 10♣7♥
The two traded outs on the 4♦3♥5♥ flop, and the K♦ turn that followed left Ripnick in great shape to double. He survived, as the 8♣ river saw the pot pushed in his direction.
Pierce McKellar raised from the hijack to 2,100,000, and Vincent Albert moved all in from the small blind for 4,800,000. McKellar thought for a moment and called.
Vincent Albert: A♥5♥
Pierce McKellar: 9♠9♥
The board was A♠4♣7♦K♦7♥, and two pair would win Albert some much-needed chips.
Valentin Vornicu opened to 1,600,000 from early position, holding J♠8♠. Joao Simao opted for just a call with A♥A♣ from the cutoff, and the two went off to a flop.
Vornicu continued for 1,800,000 on 3♣2♦7♥ before Simao placed in a raise to 4,200,000. Vornicu, undeterred, put in a three-bet to 9,800,000. He then slowed down on the K♣ turn, as action checked through to the J♣ river.
Simao, BET 8,500,000, not leaving much behind. Vornicu went extremely deep into the tank. After three minutes of deliberation, he slapped the chips down to see the bad news.
Dayanna Ciabaton went all in preflop and was called by Marc Fiorentino in the hijack, and Andrew Moreno called out of the big blind to put Ciabaton at risk while Fiorentino and Moreno played for a side pot.
Both remaining players checked the 4♥3♥2♦ flop to bring the J♣ turn.
Moreno led out for 5,500,000 before Fiorentino raised it to 12,000,000. Moreno made the call.
The 2♣ river led to a round of checks.
Ciabaton showed A♥J♠ while Fiorentino showed A♠Q♠ as both showed ace high.
It was Moreno with the goods when he revealed 4♦4♠ for a full house to take down the main and the side pot and eliminate Ciabaton in the process.
In a blind on blind situation, Jurgen Pirgu had the worst of it from the small blind, in terms of both chip count and equity.
Jurgen Pirgu: J♥8♠
Pierce Mckellar: A♠Q♠
McKellar found the hold, and made three of a kind on the K♣Q♣J♣Q♦3♠ runout to have the pot locked up on the turn, with Pirgu just missing out on the final three tables.
Elsewhere in the tournament, both Hieu Luu and Hayden Hetland said goodbye.
