Gheba Seizes Chip Lead

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Daniyal Gheba
Daniyal Gheba

Seeing a raise to 60,000 from middle position ahead of him, Daniyal Gheba three-bet to 210,000 on the button. Next to act, Anatoly Nikitin four-bet to 520,000 from the small blind. The original raiser folded, but Gheba called.

The dealer spread a 5Q6 flop, and when Nikitin continued for 300,000, Gheba called again.

Nikitin slowed down on the 8 turn, checking to Gheba. Gheba took the opportunity to take over the betting lead, sliding 475,000 into the middle.

After a little deliberation, Nikitin surrendered and returned his cards to the dealer.

Marquez Wins One From He

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Yifu He raised it up to 80,000 from the hijack and only Anthony Marquez came along from the small blind.

Marquez check-called He's bet of 60,000 on the A93 flop and the A landed on the turn.

Both players checked for the 2 to roll off on the river. Marquez then tossed out a bet of 100,000, and He folded, stating he had a "big pocket pair."

Gheba Eliminates Mao

Level 23 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Renji Mao

Renji Mao opened to 80,000 from under the gun before Daniyal Gheba chose to re-raise to 315,000 out of the big blind.

Mao shoved for approximately 1,205,000 and was called by Gheba to be at risk.

Renji Mao: QQAll in
Daniyal Gheba: AK

Mao and Gheba were in a classic race as Mao aimed to have his queens hold against the overcards of Gheba.

Mao's optimism faded when the 58K flop upgraded Gheba to a pair of kings.

The A turn improved Gheba to two pair, and the 5 river was not one of Mao's two outs as he was eliminated.

Poker Pros Not Named Shaun Deeb Who Could Dominate the 2026 WSOP

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

You can pretty much go ahead and pencil in Shaun Deeb (and a few others) among those who will, to quote Jason Somerville, “run it up” this summer at the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP). But there are others who will shine during poker's most prestigious series, some of whom just might win their first bracelet.

The WSOP Player of the Year race, won by Deeb last year, began with WSOP Europe earlier this year. Deeb kickstarted his title defense with six cashes and two runner-up finishes in Prague. Many of the summer grinders didn't travel across the pond, including Daniel Negreanu.

Despite the head start, the reigning POY is no lock to win it again. There are others who figure to factor into the race. Or, at the very least, post impressive results in Las Vegas.

Lin Keeps Mokhammad Honest

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Ren Lin opened to 60,000 from the cutoff, and only Kamel Mokhammad called, defending his big blind.

Both players checked on the 8910 flop, tempting Mokhammad to take over the betting lead to the tune of 30,000 on the 2 turn. Lin called before the action checked through once again on the 3 river.

Mokhammad tabled his KJ, which could not beat the AQ of Lin.

Wiliams Takes One From Sued

Level 22 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Benjamin Williams opened to 90,000 from the small blind, and Kharlin Sued called out of the big blind.

Both players checked through the 7K3 flop and the 5 turn to bring the 8 river.

Williams checked again before Sued opted to put out a bet of 130,000. Williams wanted to play for more chips as he check-raised to 440,000 to put Sued to a decision.

Sued did not hesitate to fold, awarding the pot to Williams.
