Alavez Hero-Calls to Double

Level 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

The action was picked up on a board of 56J8K with roughly 350,000 in the pot. Ivan Poroliev under the gun raised all-in, and Briant Alavez in the small blind with 205,000 behind went deep into the tank.

He eventually made the call with A5 for a pair, and was right to do so as Poroliev only had A9. Thanks to this call, Alavez doubled up moments before the break.

Edward Ochana opened to 70,000 from under the gun and action went to Miguel Capriles who three-bet to 200,000 from the hijack. Carlos Guerrero four-bet to 400,000 from the cut off. Ochana gave up his hand and Capriles moved all in for 500,000. Guerrero called the extra 100,000 and the players went heads-up to showdown.

After the cards were flipped, Ioannis Kapnopoulos who was on the button, shared he folded pocket-queens and Ochana said had mucked pocket eights.

Capriles was looking to hold with his pocket aces, and it was a clean double after both missed on the 3596Q runout.

Pecheux Goes All-In

Ioannis Kapnopoulos opened to 65,000 from middle position. Sami Bechahed in the hijack called, as well as Brandon Mueller on the button.

Erwann Pecheux in the small blind however decided to go all-in for 1,095,000. He made all of his opponents fold and directly won the pot.

Bechahed Makes Guerrero Fold

Carlos Guerrero opened from the hijack and was called by both players in the blinds.

The dealer fanned a flop of A25 and Guerrero continued for 65,000. Sami Bechahed in the small blind called while the big blind folded.

Guerrero fired a second barrel to 180,000 on the 5 turn, but Bechahed check-raised to 480,000 and made Guerrero fold.

Swieboda Gets Value from Peling

Bartlomiej Swieboda opened from middle position and Zephyr Peling defended the big blind.

The pair saw a 6610 flop which was checked to the 2 turn. Peling check-called a 50,000 bet by Swieboda to see the A river and Peling checked again.

Swieboda moved out 120,000 which sent Peling into a small tank. He eventually called, and Swieboda tabled his AK for two pair, having picked up an ace on the river. Peling mucked his hand and remarked, "I let you get there."

Kapnopoulos Continues to Build

Erwann Pecheux opened to 60,000 from the hijack and Ioannis Kapnopoulos three-bet to 250,000 from the small blind.

Pecheux called, and the players went to the flop. The Q5Q fell and Kapnopoulos bet out 120,000. It didn't take long for Pecheux to muck his hand, passing more across to the current chip leader.

Mason Moves in on Alavez

Briant Alavez opened to 60,000 on the button and Craig Mason called from the small blind. Ivan Poroliev also defended his big blind, taking the players three-ways to the A6J flop.

Action checked to Alavez, who bet 50,000 and only Mason called. A 5 turn was checked by both to see the 2 river.

Mason moved out 600,000, covering Alavez's remaining 260,000 chips. Alavez went into the tank and looked at his neighbor and again at the board, before finding a fold.

Gard's Run Comes to an End

The action was picked up on a board of Q2K10 with roughly 350,000 in the pot. William Gard under the gun moved all-in for 605,000 and Ryan Hiller in the hijack went deep into the tank. He eventually made the call.

Hiller called with two pair and managed to avoid spades and jacks on the 6 river to take the pot. Both stacks were counted and he was slightly covered so he doubled up while Gard was left with 10,000.

In the next hand, Gard was forced all-in in the big blind but managed to stay in the tournament by hitting two pair with 72 against two players. Moments later however, he was all-in in the small blind and called by Michael Newman in the big blind.

Gard didn't survive this one and was eliminated on 10Q8K5. "Not bad for my first tournament in 15 years," he said while leaving.
