Mateos Makes Kulev Fold

Level 1 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Heads-up on a flop of 526, Adrian Mateos in the big blind and Alex Kulev on the button both checked to discover the A turn.

Mateos led out for 10,000 and Kulev called, then Mateos fired a second barrel to 45,000 on the 4 river. Kulev went into the tank but folded.

Parssinen Takes an Early Hit; Hunichen Takes a Seat

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Samuel Mullur opened the action by raising to 5,000 from the hijack and Adrian Mateos three-bet to 20,000 from the cutoff. Dejan Kaladjurdjevic four-bet to 50,000 on the button and Eelis Parssinen used a time bank before five-betting to 150,000 in the big blind.

Mulluer and Mateos quickly mucked but Kaladjurdjevic placed out two time cards before deciding to call.

The A5Q flop was check-called by Parssinen after Kaladjurdjevic bet 55,000, and the pair saw a 10 turn.

Parssinen checked, Kaladjurdjevic bet 125,000 and Parssinen mucked, taking a tumble just a few hands into the start of the day.

A First Pot for Pitavy

Level 1 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Nick Petrangelo raised to 5,000 from the cutoff. Emilien Pitavy on the button three-bet to 23,000 and was called.

Both players checked a flop of 3A4 leading to the 8 turn which was checked by Petrangelo. Pitavy bet 35,000 and made him fold.

A Four-Bet Pot for Koon

Level 1 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Ben Heath opened to 4,000 from under the gun. Moments after taking his seat at the table, Jason Koon in the hijack,three-bet to 14,000. Heath responded with a four-bet to 64,000, and Koon called.

The dealer fanned a flop of 2810. Heath checked and snap-folded when Koon grabbed some chips to bet.

In the first hand of the day Nick Petrangelo opened to 400 from early position and Dejan Kaladjurdjevic defended from the big blind. The 4QQ flop was checked by Kaladjurdjevic and Petrangelo bet 300. Kaladjurdjevic mucked, and a small pot was passed Petrangelo's way.

Then Christopher Nguyen opened to 500 from the cutoff and Barak Wisbrod called from the big blind. A J310 flop was check-called by Wisbrod after Nguyen continued for 200. Both checked the 10 turn to see the 4 river and Wisbrod bet 500. Nguyen called and Wisbrod tabled his Q10 for trip tens. Nguyen quickly mucked.

The action continues today with Event #36: $100,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em, a high-stakes event that should be sure to draw a mix of top poker pros and recreationals looking for a summer score.

Action kicks off at 1 p.m. local time with the day scheduled to play for ten levels. There will be a 15-minute break every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break scheduled after Level 6 around 7:30 p.m.

Players will begin with starting stacks of 600,000. Level 1 will see blinds of 1,000/2,000/2,000 and levels will last 60 minutes for the duration of the tournament. The three-day tournament will play to a winner on June 12 at a to-be-determined time.

Last years event, which drew 103 entrants, featured a stacked final table that included entrepreneur Vinny Lingham and masked assassin Isaac Haxton. The title and $2,649,158 went to four-time bracelet winner Joao Vieira, who proudly draped the Portugal flag in his winner's photos.

The year before that saw fellow high-stakes pro Chris Hunichen winning the event as part of a career summer that teed up one of the most epic poker Fourth of July parties ever.
