Day 1 Completed
One of the most prestigious events of the summer kicked off today with the Event #54: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship here at the Paris Las Vegas. 153 of the finest mixed game players in the world convened this afternoon for eight hours of limit poker, with only 69 advancing to Day 2 in this freezeout format.
Last year's edition of this event attracted 207 runners, but there is still time to catch up with registration open until the start of Level 12 at 2:15 p.m. tomorrow.
Leading the way after today's action was Jason Daly, who bagged an incredible 460,000 from a 60,000 starting stack, well over three times the average stack. The three-time bracelet winner is off to a hot start this summer, already having won the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, as well as picking up two cashes in other Championship events.

Some who were less fortunate and will not be returning tomorrow include Daniel Negreanu, Yuri Dzivielevski, Jeremy Ausmus, Naoya Kihara, Chad Eveslage, Dan Cates, Joao Vieira, and 2022 champion Andrew Yeh. In addition, Mike Matusow was the victim of a humorous elimination, and he was sure to let the entire room know about it.
Play resumes at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the Paris Gold section in Level 11 with limits of 4,000/8,000. Registration remains open until the start of Level 12, which will be around 2:15 p.m. The plan for Day 2 is to play ten 60-minute levels.

The final three hands have been dealt, and the surviving 69 players have headed into the night.
The action is set to resume tomorrow, Friday, June 19, at 1:00 p.m. local time.
Stay tuned for the full chip counts and a recap of the day's action.
Omaha Hi-Lo
Gustavo Silva Campos raised from under the gun, and only Daniel Strelitz called in the cutoff.
The action checked all the way to the 9♠4♣Q♦J♣7♦ river, but when Campos checked for a third time, Strelitz decided to bet. Campos thought long and hard about it, ultimately choosing to flick in a call.
Strelitz tabled 7♥7♣4♠2♥ for a rivered set, and Campos mucked his hand.
The tournament clock has been paused, and the dealers have been instructed to deal three more hands. Upon their completion, the surviving players will bag their chips and advance to Day 2.
Razz
Richard Sklar: 6xAx / Qx3x10x7x / Xx
Gabe Ramos: XxXx / 7x6x3xJx / Xx
Christopher Vitch: XxXx / 6xAx4xKx / Xx
Brad Owen: XxXx / 7x10x7x - folded on fifth street
Sklar completed off a short stack, Owen raised, Ramos cold-called, Vitch made it three bets, and Sklar called all-in for 7,000. Owen made it four bets, and the other two called.
Vitch led fourth and both opponents called. He bet again on fifth and only Ramos called.
Ramos check-called on sixth before seventh checked through on the side. Vitch tabled Kx8x3x in the hole for an eight-six, while Ramos had 8x2xAx for a seven-six, giving the side pot to Ramos.
Sklar flipped over his first two cards, and he needed exactly a deuce to chop the pot. Incredibly, he flipped over the 2♠ on seventh, and he and Ramos chopped the main pot, both holding 7-6-3-2-A.
Omaha Hi-Lo
Ryan Miller raised in the cutoff, which both Patrick Moulder and Dennis Weiss called in the blinds.
Moulder took over the betting lead on the 9♣7♣2♦ flop, and Weiss and Miller both called.
It was the same scenario on the J♠ turn: Moulder bet, Weiss and Miller called.
Moulder slowed down on the 5♠ river, and checked over to Weiss, who also checked. Miller chose to bet, and both Moulder and Weiss called.
Weiss flipped over Q♠Q♦10♥10♣, but it wasn't good enough for any of the pot, as Moulder took the high with A♥A♦8♦2♣, and Miller took the low with A♠9♦4♥4♦.
Jesse Lonis completed to see David "ODB" Baker and Renan Bruschi call.
Jesse Lonis: XxXx/5♠Q♣6♣5♥/Xx
David "ODB" Baker: XxXx/4♠A♦3♠J♥/Xx
Renan Bruschi: XxXx/2♦A♣Q♠ - Folded on fifth
Action checked through on fourth to fifth street where Baker bet when action checked around to him.
Only Lonis called and he bet on sixth street to see Baker call.
Both players checked on seventh street and Lonis won after he tabled 6♠3♣2♣ for sixes and fives to take down the pot.
