Van Ravenswoud flashed 9♠6♥4♥3♣ for a rivered flush and Cowen mucked.
Joao Simao raised to 300,000 from the cutoff, and Naoya Kihara moved all in from the blinds. Simao called to put Kihara at risk.
Naoya Kihara: A♣Q♣10♥8♠
Joao Simao: J♦10♦10♣6♦
The board ran out 10♠8♦4♦Q♦8♣, giving Kihara eights full of tens, but also giving Simao tens full of eights for a bigger boat to dash Kihara's hopes — for now — of winning a third bracelet this summer.
Venkat Chivukula limped in from middle position and Carlo van Ravenswoud raised to 425,000 in the cutoff. Chivukula called, and they saw a flop of 3♥9♠A♣.
Van Ravenswoud then bet 300,000, and Chivukula asked the dealer the pot size. When told it was 2,050,000, he slid forward 2,000,000. "Discount," he said to Van Ravenswoud.
"Thank you," Van Ravenswoud replied as he quickly folded. Chivukula showed him A♦A♥ as he took the pot.
The next hand, Robert Cowen raised to 250,000 in the cutoff, and Naoya Kihara called in the big blind.
Both players checked the 2♣8♣J♥ flop. Cowen then bet 580,000 on the 2♥ turn, and Kihara called.
The river was the 3♦, and Cowen bet another 580,000. Kihara folded this time.
Naoya Kihara raised to 420,000 from early position, and Carlo van Ravenswoud called on the button. Both players checked the A♠10♦2♥ flop before the Q♥ rolled off on the turn. Kihara checked again, Van Ravenswoud bet 700,000, and Kihara called.
The J♣ landed on the river, and Kihara led out for 200,000. Van Ravenswoud put in a small raise to 550,000, and Kihara called.
"Broadway," the dealer announced as Van Ravenswoud tabled his A♥K♥J♦J♠. Kihara mucked.
Robert Cowen raised to 240,000 under the gun and Santhosh Suvarna three-bet to 900,000 in the hijack. Carlo van Ravenswoud then potted to 3,000,000 in the big blind.
Cowen cut out the chips to call out of his stack and tanked for a minute, but he eventually folded. Van Ravenswoud went to turn over his cards until the rest of the table told him Suvarna was not yet all in. Suvarna ended up calling for 1,290,000.
Santhosh Suvarna: K♠Q♠Q♦4♠
Carlo van Ravenswoud: A♠A♣5♦4♣
Van Ravenswoud was ahead with his aces as the flop came 9♦2♦J♠, giving Suvarna some hope with a straight draw. The turn was the 8♥, while Suvarna hit his straight on the 10♠ river to win the pot and double up.
Robert Cowen raised to 250,000 in middle position and Venkat Chivukula defended his big blind. Chivukula check-called 420,000 on a K♦8♠2♠ flop before both players checked the 10♠ turn.
On the 10♣ river, Chivukula checked, Cowen bet 1,020,000, and Chivukula folded.
Down to his last 525,000 in chips, Santhosh Suvarna was all in and at risk against Joao Simao.
Santhosh Suvarna: A♠Q♣7♠2♠
Joao Simao: A♣9♥8♣3♥
The board ran out 10♠7♥7♣3♦K♠ and Suvarna's trip sevens was more than enough to secure him the pot.
Naoya Kihara raised to 420,000 in middle position; Veselin Karakitukov moved all in for 1,335,000 in the cutoff, and Kihara called.
Veselin Karakitukov: K♥K♦3♦2♥
Naoya Kihara: A♥K♣J♣6♣
Kihara hit top pair on the A♣9♣7♥ flop to take the lead, while the 5♣ turn improved him to a flush and left Karakitukov drawing dead. The river was the 4♠, and Karakitukov was sent to the rail as the first casualty of the day.
The next hand, Santhosh Suvarna raised to 420,000 under the gun and Venkat Chivukula potted to 1,440,000 in the hijack. Suvarna, who had around 850,000 behind, tanked for a few minutes before releasing his hand.

On the Q♣ turn, Dzivielevski took a little longer before cutting out a bet of 350,000, and Van Ravenswoud quickly folded.
