Pot-Limit Omaha
Phil Hellmuth arrived at the table, with a burrito encased in foil. He unwrapped his pre-dinner snack, and began eating from the middle of his wrap as Josh Arieh limped in from the cutoff. David Williams made it 23,000 from the button and was called by Arieh. The latter then check-folded to a pot-sized bet on the K♠9♥6♣ flop, and was moved to the seat that Nick Schulman was eliminated from on another table.
On the next deal, Williams raised to 18,000 from the cutoff and was called by Ioannis Angelou Konstas from the button. Konstas called for 16,000 on the flop before the turn checked through to the river for the board to read A♥J♦8♥4♠3♣. Williams fired out 32,000 and Konstas called after some thought. Williams tabled K♠K♥Q♣9♥, but it was no good against Konstas' J♣9♠8♠5♣, which was good for jacks and eights.
The following hand saw Chris Brewer limp in from under the gun. Williams called from the hijack, and Hellmuth came along from the small blind. Brad Owen checked his option in the big blind.
Hellmuth led out for 25,000 on the A♣7♣3♥ flop and Brewer was the only caller. The Q♥ turn checked through to the 8♣ river, where Hellmuth checked and then faced a bet of 40,000.
Hellmuth began his spiel of how he thought today was going to be a good day, and that he'd get "revenge" on Brewer for all the "goofy beats" he's put on him over the years.
Hellmuth flashed Ax7x before folding.
Brewer wasn't so sure about that, saying that they've probably played 100 hands against each other lifetime. Hellmuth agreed, but noted that he may have only won three of them, and began to repeat his words about goofy beats. Brewer said Hellmuth must be in small company, as he's been known to suffer some of the cruelest exits in poker, and that he's usually the one taking them.
The talk subsided, and Hellmuth continued to eat his burrito...from the middle.
