Dinner Break

Level 9

The 59 remaining players have been sent on a 60-minute dinner break. This will also be the last chance for players to late register, with registration closing at the start of the next level.

Action will resume at approximately 7:30 p.m. local time.

Mantel Scoops One; Glaser Chops With Guagenti

Level 9

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

In a five-way limped pot to the J1010 flop, Ariel Mantel bet from under the gun and Bryce Yockey raised on the button for Mantel to call. The 6 turn was checked and so was the 2 on the river, Mantel won the pot with the KKQ4.

Nick Guagenti then raised for Benny Glaser in the small blind and Mantel in the big blind to call.

They checked the KQ6 flop to the J turn on which Glaser bet, Mantel folded, Guagenti raised and Glaser called. The 10 river brought a four-liner on the board and one more bet each went in. Glaser tabled his A1098 for the turned broadway, which had to settle for a chop as Guagenti tabled the AJ32.

Level 9
Brad Owen
Brad Owen

2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

Brad Owen raised from under the gun and called when Brian Rast reraised from the button.

Both players drew one, and Owen check-called a bet. Owen and Rast took another one each on second draw, but this time, Owen led out with a bet. Rast called.

Owen stood pat, while Rast took one. Owen bet, but quickly folded when Rast raised. Owen announced he had a no-good straight, showing 6x5x4x3x2x, and was left short.

No-Limit Hold'em

Rast opened to 12,000 from the cutoff and and Owen defended his big blind, leaving 30,000 behind. Owen check-folded to a bet for his tournament life on the 1054 flop.

Phil Hellmuth then took the next two pots to chip up slightly.

Owen then put in his last 25,000 from the hijack and Rast called from the big blind, to put the poker vlogger at risk.

Brad Owen: A2All in
Brian Rast: A9

Owen immediately left his chair, and started collecting his belongings. However, the K2J flop gave him the lead. The 6 turn and 4 river completed the runout and Owen survived.

At another table, Ioannis Angelou Konstas became the final casualty before dinner break.

Hunichen Wins Big as Table Plays Back-to-Back Huge Hands in Triple Draw

Level 9
Chris Hunichen
Chris Hunichen

2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

In a four-way four-bet pot, big blind John Racener drew one card on the first draw. Paul Volpe drew two cards in middle position, and Chris Hunichen and Gus Hansen followed suit in the hijack and on the button, respectively.

Racener then bet, receiving calls from Volpe and Hunichen. Hansen raised, however, seeing all three opponents call. The drawing action on the second draw went one, two, two, pat, after which it checked to Hansen.

Hansen bet, Racener called, Volpe folded, Hunichen raised, Hansen called, and Racener folded after a lenghty tank.

The remaining duo then both remained pat on the final draw. Hunichen tossed in a bet, quickly looked up by Hansen. Hunichen tabled 8x5x4x3x2x for number five, and Hansen mucked his cards.

On the next deal, Hunichen raised in middle position. Dario Sammartino then made it three bets to go in the hijack, and Hansen four-bet in the cutoff. Hunichen called, and so did Sammartino.

Hunichen and Hansen took two cards on the first draw, with Sammartino drawing one in between. Hunichen then checked, Sammartino bet, Hansen raised, and Hunichen folded. Sammartino called, after which he and Hansen each took one card on the second draw.

Sammartino check-called another bet to the final draw, where he requested one new card, with Hansen standing pat behind. Hansen tossed in one more bet after Sammartino had checked, enough to win the pot as Sammartino relinquished his cards.

Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Matthew Schreiber: K10/A1010K/A All in
Gus Hansen: 74/6645/J

Matthew Schreiber completed, and Gus Hansen called. Hansen then led out on fourth street, and Schreiber called. Several bets went in on fifth street, with Schreiber ending up all in.

Schreiber's trips became a full house on sixth street, and Hansen could not find a low on seventh street to get scooped.

"You started with ace-king-ten?" a perplexed Hansen asked his opponent.

"I thought we were playing stud high," Schreiber said with a chuckle.

Dara Taherpour raised and James Obst called on the button, Philip Sternheimer defended out of the big blind. Sternheimer and Obst took two while Taherpour took one. Sternheimer check-folded to a bet by Taherpour and a raise by Obst, while Taherpour called.

Both took one new card and Taherpour bet for Obst to call. Taherpour then patted the final draw and Obst took one. They checked in the final betting round and Taherpour won the pot with the 8x7x6x4x3x. He has become the second-largest stack at the table while Sternheimer has plummeted below the starting stack.

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Eric Wasserson: XxXx / Q8 - folded on fourth street
James Obst: XxXx / 8Q - folded on fourth street
Phil Hui: XxXx / 26 - folded on fourth street
Philip Sternheimer: XxXx / 374K / Xx
Dara Taherpour: XxXx / 4527 / Xx

Phil Hui was the bring-in, and Philip Sternheimer was on his left. He just decided to call.

Chance Kornuth was left with 3,000 by Phil Hui in previous hand, and after paying his ante, he had just 1,000 left. He decided to preserve for at least one more hand as he folded.

Dara Taherpour, Eric Wasserson and James Obst all called to see fourth street.

It checked to Tahapour, and he bet. Sternheimer was the only caller. Sternheimer then check-called bets all the way to showdown, where Taherpour tabled J63 for a seven-high straight and six-five low. Sternheimer mucked.

Phil Hui: 4Qx - folded on fourth street
Chance Kornuth: XxXx / 8Q98 / Xx All in
Dara Taherpour: XxXx / 55J10 / Xx
Brian Tate: XxXx / K786 / Xx

Kornuth's last chip then went into the middle, and he was hoping he could scoop 7,000 in antes.

Hui was the bring in once more, and Sternheimer folded before Taherpour completed. Brian Tate and Hui called.

Taherpour made open fives on fourth street and bet. Only Tate called.

Tate called a bet on fifth street, and then bet on sixth street after Taherpour checked. The latter called for seventh street to check through to showdown.

Taherpour announced two pair, tabling 772 for sevens and fives. Tate had Kx2xXx for just a pair of kings, with no low.

A queen, nine, eight or a bigger pair in the hole would save Kornuth but he showed down A63 and exited the tournament.
