Thung Gets Two Folds

Level 9

No-Limit Hold'em

Roy Thung raised on the button to 10,000, and was called by the small blind Benny Glaser and the big blind Ariel Mantel.

The flop came 953 and all three players checked to the J on the turn. Both Glaser and Mantel checked to Thung, who bet 20,000. Glaser and Mantel both called.

After the A on the river, it was checked to Thung again, who this time bet 30,000. Glaser folded, and after taking some time, Mantel folded as well to give the pot to Thung.

Dan Smith: XxXx / 43KK / Xx
Luke Schwartz: XxXx / AJ103 / Xx
Yosuke Miki: XxXx / 4896 / Xx

Dan Smith limped in and Luke Schwartz completed, bring-in Yosuke Miki called and Smith came along. All three players checked fourth street before Schwartz bet fifth street, Miki called and Smith then raised for both of his opponents to call.

Smith then paired his king on sixth and Schwartz checked, too. Miki bet and earned two calls. Smith as well as Schwartz then also checked seventh and Miki bet again. While Smith had folded, Schwartz vaulted out of his chair in disgust and rambled for a couple of seconds before making the call.

Miki tabled his 1099 for a flush (and set of nines) while Schwartz mucked AJ5 for aces and jacks.

No-Limit Hold'em

Brad Owen raised to 12,000 in the hijack. It folded to Marco Johnson in the big blind, who three-bet to 48,000. Owen then quickly moved all in, and Johnson called off his stack of 211,000.

Marco Johnson: QQ All in
Brad Owen: AK

Owen leaped into the lead on the A95 flop, but Johnson made a runner-runner flush on the 5K runout to secure a double-up. Owen, meanwhile, was left with just over 15 big blinds in his stack.

Hellmuth Plays "Weird" to Win

Level 9

2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

Phil Hellmuth raised under the gun, and David Williams and Ioannis Angelou Konstas called in the blinds. Williams drew two cards, Angelou Konstas requested three, while Hellmuth just needed one.

The trio then checked it to the second draw, where the draws went one, two, one. It was again checked to Hellmuth afterward, but this time he bet. Both opponents called to the final draw, where they drew one card each.

Hellmuth remained pat behind, and he fired another bet after two checks. Williams and Angelou Konstas did not like their last cards, and they mucked in quick succession.

"I played it weird," Hellmuth concluded as he was awarded the pot.

No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Single Draw

Renan Bruschi raised to 13,000 from the hijack and was called by James Tilton from the cutoff. It folded to Michael Moncek, who was in the big blind. He shoved for 159,000 and only Bruschi called.

Moncek drew one, while Bruschi stood pat.

Michael Moncek: 9652 All in
Renan Bruschi: 109632

Bruschi had a ten-nine, meaning Moncek needed an eight, seven, four or three to survive. He quickly turned over the 7 and doubled up.

On the next deal, Bruschi raised to 13,000 again. Josh Arieh called from the cutoff before Moncek and Maksim Pisarenko came along from the blinds.

Moncek drew one, while Pisarenko took two. Bruschi stood pat and Arieh drew one.

It checked to Arieh in the final betting round, and he fired out 50,000. Moncek quickly called, putting the action on Pisarenko. He tanked for quite some time, but eventually flicked in a call. Brsuchi got out of the way.

Arieh announced a nine-eight, but Moncek took in the pot when he tabled 96543.

Why This Seven-Time WSOP Champ Who Crushes Top Pros Flies Under the Radar

Level 9
Calvin Anderson
Calvin Anderson

There are only two players who've won five World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets since 2023 — Nick Schulman and Calvin Anderson.

The former is a Poker Hall of Famer who, deservedly so, receives plenty of poker media and social media attention. The latter has kept a low profile and mostly stays off the radar despite crushing some of the toughest fields. But that doesn't seem to bug Anderson, who is competing in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship.

"It doesn't bother me," Anderson told PokerNews on Monday. "A lot of the players have been around a lot longer than me. If I was 10 years older, I think I'd be up there with a lot of the guys."

Kornuth Holds

Level 9

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Chance Kornuth raised from middle position, and was called by Eric Wasserson on the button, and the big blind Phil Hui.

Hui drew two, Kornuth stood pat, and Wasserson drew one. All three players then checked, and Kornuth tabled the winner with 10x9x8x7x2x to take the pot.

Tong Gets Some Chips Back

Level 9

Limit Hold'em

On a three-way flop of J83, Christopher Vitch and Dylan Weisman called a bet by Kristopher Tong. Vitch then led the K turn for Weisman to fold while Tong called. Vitch also bet the A river and Tong quickly called.

Vitch declared kings and showed his K10x but instantly mucked them when Tong revealed the A10 for the rivered top pair.

Tong elaborated that the pot would have been much bigger if it was Pot-Limit Omaha but he is "waiting for his favourite game Seven Card Stud".
