Wasserson Loses It All to Thung and Ivey

Level 16
Eric Wasserson
Eric Wasserson

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Eric Wasserson barreled through a board of 54245 and had just over one big bet behind when Roy Thung called on the river. Wasserson tabled the AA64 for trips fours but was left flabbergasted when Thung showed his AJ103 for a wheel.

Razz

Phil Ivey: 8x5x / 4x4xAxJx / 8x
Eric Wasserson: 2x3x / 4x10xKx4x / 2x

Left visibly frustrated and down to only 70,000 prior to posting the ante in Razz, Wasserson then moved all-in over a completion by Phil Ivey, who quickly called. Wasserson quickly meshed his three first cards together to show a four-trey-deuce start against Ivey's eight-five-four.

On fourth street, Ivey even paired his four while Wasserson had a ten draw. However, the run-bad continued on the next two streets when Wasserson caught a king and paired his four. Ivey made a jack-eight and paired his eight on the final card to leave the door wide open for Wasserson to survive.

However, it was not meant to be as he also paired the 2x and quickly walked out of the tournament area.

Brewer Bets Out Hunichen

Level 16

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

"Rast, you're still here?" Phil Hellmuth said as he was moved to Brian Rast's table.

"I'm a survivor. Although I haven't done it like you, I have been all in a few times. Two times against you," Rast replied.

"I had you nearly dead twice," Hellmuth added.

Meanwhile, Chris Hunichen had opened in the hijack and Chris Brewer called in the big blind.

Brewer led out with a bet on the Q59 flop and Hunichen called. Brewer bet again on the 2 turn, and Hunichen called.

The river was the 6 and Brewer bet. Hunichen folded this time, and Brewer took the pot.

Level 16

Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Bryce Yockey raised in the small blind and Paul Volpe called in the big blind.

The river was the 4 and Volpe put out another bet. Yockey called, and Volpe showed AKQ4 for a straight to win the pot.

Phil Ivey spent all of this hand standing up from his seat watching the Colombia-Congo World Cup match on the television screen. "Phil, play some poker," Eric Wasserson told him, drawing a deathly stare from Ivey.

Colombia happened to score right after. "Wass, don't talk to me while I'm watching soccer," Ivey told him.

Ivey's Raise Sends Wasserson Into Frenzy

Level 16
Eric Wasserson
Eric Wasserson

Seven Card Stud

Eric Wasserson: XxXx/44K8/Xx - folded on seventh street
Phil Ivey: XxXx/9Q8A/Xx

Phil Ivey completed, and Eric Wasserson called in the bring-in. Wasserson paired his door card on fourth and led out with a bet. Ivey almost mucked his cards before he confirmed the amount and called.

Wasserson then kept firing on fifth and sixth street, with Ivey tossing in quick calls. Wasserson flicked in another bet on seventh street, but this time Ivey raised.

Wasseron shot up in laughter. "Really?" he asked. "I have three fours. Why would you raise three fours?"

He then went on a minute-long soliloquy about how he had to fold three fours before finally mucking his cards in defeat.

"How many outs did you have?" Wasserson asked Ivey as he was stacking his newly acquired chips, to which the Hall of Famer answered that he had six outs.

"It would have been funnier if you said zero," Wasserson joked, eliciting a smile out of the normally ever-stoic Ivey.
