Foxen Puts Duek to the Test

Alex Foxen opened from middle position, Michael Duek three-bet from the cutoff, Foxen put in a four-bet, and Duek called as around 60,000 found its way into the middle preflop.

On the Q♥8♣3♥ flop, Foxen led for 15,000 and Duek called.

Foxen led again on the 4♣ turn for 37,000, and Duek stuck around.

The K♥ peeled off on the river as Foxen burned through two time extensions before betting 114,800, leaving a single T-100 chip behind. Duek went deep into the tank, using a few extensions of his own, before ultimately deciding to fold.

Tablemate Chino Rheem implored Foxen to show a bluff, and he partially obliged, turning over the A♣.

Action picked up on the turn with around 15,000 in the middle in a hand between Maximilian Schindler on the button and William Brindise in the big blind.

With the board reading Q♦7♥6♦K♦, Brindise checked to Schindler who bet 12,000. Brindise then check-raised to 35,000, Schindler jammed for about 72,500, and Brindise called with the covering stack.

Schindler had turned a flush against the top pair of Brindise, who also held a higher diamond in his hand. Unfortunately for Schindler, the 8♦ landed on the river, giving Brindise a bigger flush to eliminate Schindler.

The board read 10♠8♣4♦ and Helppi checked to Belluscio who bet the pot of 23,400 and Davies folded. Ohulchanskyi raised to 117,000 and Helppi called all in for 90,100 while Belluscio folded.

Both players checked the turn Q♠ to the river K♣ where Schwartz check-folded to a bet of 10,800 from Schindler.

Just one hand after doubling up Ioannis Angelou Konstas, Brian Breck raised to 4,200 from early position to see both Konstas in the cutoff and Arunas Sapitavicius on the button call. Edward Leonard in the big blind raised to 21,600 and received four callers.

The flop rolled out J♦10♣3♠ and Leonard bet 88,600 to see Breck jam for 125,000, Konstas jam for more, Sapitavicius fold, and Leonard call for 96,100 total.

Sternheimer had a pair, Broadway wrap, and backdoor spades against the aces, gutter, and backdoor diamonds of Schwartz. The 6♠ turn gave Sternheimer a flush draw for even more outs, but the river was the 2♥, and Sternheimer was eliminated.

He quickly purchased a fresh stack of 150,000 and has retaken his seat.
