Yanting Jiang began the action with an open to 1,600,000 from the hijack. Michael Rocco shipped it on the button for approximately 10,500,000. Jiang snap-called to put Rocco at risk.
Michael Rocco: A♣Q♦
Yanting Jiang: A♠A♥
Rocco's time to pick up a hand was an unfortunate one as he ran into the pocket aces of Jiang.
Rocco was unable to crack Jiang's aces on the 8♦5♦9♠K♠3♠ runout as he was eliminated in seventh place.
Rocco earned $192,347 for his finish.
Yanting Jiang open-jammed from the cutoff and Maurice Hawkins called from the big blind, putting his last 9,600,000 stack at risk.
Maurice Hawkins: A♠K♦
Yanting Jiang: Q♦8♦
Hawkins was ahead and held on the 10♣7♠6♥2♦3♥ run out to scoop back even more chips after recently getting down to just half a big blind.
Chahn Jung opened to 1,600,000 from the hijack and Yoon Choi moved all in for his last 7,800,000 from the cutoff. Yanting Jiang called on the button and Jung took a while before folding. He was asked "Ace-Jack?" from another player at the table and he nodded.
Yoon Choi: 8♥8♠
Yanting Jiang: K♠Q♠
Choi was hoping to hold, and the 7♠7♥3♥10♦5♥ board saw Choi lock up the double.
Chahn Jung opened to 1,600,000 on the button and Yanting Jiang called from the big blind.
The J♠K♦4♠ flop saw Jiang check-call a 1,400,000 bet by Jung to see the 5♦ turn.
Jiang check-call a 4,800,000 bet and the 7♠ came on the river and both opted to check to showdown. Jiang showed Q♥J♦ for a pair of jacks which was enough to pick up the sizable pot.
The 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) kicked off back on May 26, and now it is in the home stretch as June has come to an end and the $10,000 Main Event is underway. More than 70 tournaments have awarded bracelets thus far, and the PokerNews Live Reporting team has been on-site all summer long, capturing the action.
During that time, they've reported on some entertaining hands, bad beats, and more, which we're happy to feature in the latest edition of "Hands of the Week" presented by GTOWizard.
Roberto Romanello was down to his final 1,400,000 when he shipped it from under the gun. Yoon Choi went all-in for 6,400,000 from the hijack to isolate as Romanello and Choi went to a showdown after the rest of the table folded, with Romanello at risk.
Roberto Romanello: Q♠Q♦
Yoon Choi: A♠4♠
Romanello picked up a premium hand just when he needed it most, but the flop would be a disappointment when the dealer fanned out A♥3♥2♥ to give Choi a pair of aces.
The 9♣ turn ended any hope of a flush chop.
Choi upgraded to two pair on the 4♣ river as Romanello was eliminated from contention.
Romanello earned $149,093 for his efforts.
Yanting Jiang opened to 1,600,000 on the button before Vasileios Panagiotidis went all-in for 9,900,000 from the big blind. Jiang called to put Panagiotidis at risk for it all.
Vasileios Panagiotidis: A♥10♣
Yanting Jiang: 4♥4♣
Panagiotidis gained more outs on the Q♣6♣J♥ flop, but was still needing to improve to a made hand to stay alive.
The 6♠ turn kept Jiang in the lead before the 2♦ river would be the final nail in the coffin for Panagiotidis as he was eliminated in ninth place.
Panagiotidis earned $116,485 for his finish.
Jung was seen moving out 20,000,000 stacks to bully the table and scoop the blinds, and in a recent hand when action folded back to him on the button, he moved out a 10,000,000 stack to cover Jiang's remaining 9,300,000. This time he was called and Jiang put all her hopes on pocket jacks for her tournament life.
Yanting Jiang: J♠J♥
Chahn Jung: A♦8♣
The 10♦10♠Q♠ flop was safe for Jiang and the Q♦ turn and 9♣ river saw her get a full double up and take back some of her chips from Jung.
After opening and three-betting the table, Chahn Jung had built up more of a stack before going head-to-head with Yanting Jiang.
Jung opened to 1,600,000 from under the gun and Jiang called from middle position. The 4♣10♦2♣ flop saw Jung bet 1,800,00 and Jiang called to see the 9♣ turn. Jung check-called a 2,200,000 bet by Jiang to see the 3♥ river.
Jung checked and Jiang built up a 8,300,000 stack and moved it across the line. Jung went into the tank but eventually called and tabled J♠J♦ which was enough to take the pot as Jiang showed her A♣Q♥ for ace high.
