Engel is ranked the No. 1 Canadian on the Global Poker Index and No. 6 in the world. He is recently coming off a final-table finish at the 2017 $5,300 Playground Poker Spring Classic Main Event and has numerous WSOP Circuit rings amounting to over $4,790,000 career live tournament earnings. Engel will be looking to run up a stack today and put himself in a good position to win his first-ever WSOP gold bracelet.

The final day for Day 1 starting flights is here, and it begins with Event #5E: $565 Colossus III No-Limit Hold'Em. The tournament has seen over 10,000 entries through the first four starting flights and is well on its way to surpass the $8,000,000 guaranteed prizepool with $1,000,000 going to the eventual winner.

When play gets underway today at approximately 10 a.m., players will be given their initial starting stack of 5,000 chips. The blinds will start at 25/50 and will increase every 30 minutes with a 20-minute break at the end of every four levels. Players will be allowed one rebuy up until the end of Level 6, after which registration will be closed. There will be a total of 18 levels played today, and all remaining players will bag their chips and head into Day 2 scheduled for June 5.
