Patrick Chan Doubles Through Tom Hall

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Tom Hall raised from under the gun to 48,000, and Patrick Chan three-bet from the button to 118,000. Hall four-bet to 648,000, Chan shoved for a total of 834,000, and Hall called to put him at risk.

Hall: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Chan: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

Chan was racing for his tournament life and needed to improve to stay alive. The {7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop changed nothing, and neither did the {7-Diamonds} on the turn. The {A-Diamonds} river was exactly what Chan was looking for, though, and he doubled up.

Two Pair For Lindsay

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

The board on the river read {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{k-Spades}{3-Hearts}, and Katie Lindsay bet 100,000 in the big blind. Her opponent looked puzzled, but then took out the chips and called.

Lindsay turned over {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a rivered two pair, and her opponent pushed away his cards.

Erkut Yilmaz Rivers a Straight Flush

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

The PokerNews Live Reporting team was just informed that Erkut Yilmaz stacked a player with a straight flush.

Yilmaz reportedly raised preflop from the cutoff, the player in the small blind three-bet to 123,000, and Yilmaz called. The flop came {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, and the small blind check-called a bet from Yilmaz.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds}, and the small blind moved all in. Yilmaz called, and the two players tabled their hands. Yilmaz held {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for two pair and a ten-high flush draw, and the small blind held {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for a pair of nines and a jack-high flush draw.

When the {7-Diamonds} fell on the river, Yilmaz hit the only diamond in the deck that kept his hand best, and this pot put him among the top chip stacks.

Christopher Legaspi Flops Set to Double

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

The player under the gun opened with a raise, and Christopher Legaspi called.

The flop was {5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and all the money went in the middle, with Legaspi the player with the slightly smaller stack of 476,000. His opponent tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and had been ahead preflop, but the {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} of Legaspi had flopped a set and remained ahead as the turn {k-Spades} and river {3-Diamonds} completed the board.

Ismael Bojang Doubles Up

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Ismael Bojang
Ismael Bojang

Ismael Bojang just informed the PokerNews Live Reporting team that he recently doubled to about 750,000 chips.

According to Bojang, a player raised to 35,000, Bojang shoved from the cutoff with {8-}{8-} for approximately 370,000, and the big blind called. The original raiser folded, and the big blind tabled {A-}{K-}, so Bojang was flipping for his tournament life. The board provided no help to the big blind, and Bojang's pair of eights held for the double-up.

Down to 153

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The second break of the day approaches, and the tournament has been not so much whittled as scythed down to 153 players from a field of 634.

Matt Affleck Takes a Pot

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Matt Affleck had opened from under the gun and was facing off against the player in the small blind on the turn of a board reading {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

Action was checked to Affleck who bet 75,000. His opponent gave it some thought before calling.

The river was the {4-Spades} but no more chips went in the pot as it checked around.

The player in the small blind held {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, but Affleck had that beat with {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and climbed to over a million chips.
