"That's How You Win Tournaments"

McLean Karr
McLean Karr

We're not sure of the action, but we do know that a short-stacked Amaury Detoc just doubled through McLean Karr. When we arrived the board read {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Detoc had {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} laid out in front of him while Karr held {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.

"That's how you win tournaments," Karr explained. "Double up the short stacks then win monsters of the big stacks."

The Plan

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Because of the time spent on the money bubble and the pace of action thus far, the tournament staff has determined that Day 2 will come to a halt at the end of Level 17.

Ace on the Flop Saves Cajelais

Erik Cajelais
Erik Cajelais

Action folded around to Etienne Syren in the hijack and he put in a raise to 3,600. Three folds put action on Erik Cajelais in the big blind, and he opted to move all in for 23,400. Syren snap-called and rolled over {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}, which was out in front of Cajelais' {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

The Canadian was way behind, but not after the {8-Spades}{A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} flop. Syren looked disgusted as Antonio Esfandiari light of the situation from across the table goodheartedly referencing how lucky Cajelais gets. It was hard to argue as the {8-Diamonds} turn and {7-Hearts} river gave Cajelais the come-from-behind double.
