Igor Kurganov Eliminated in 22nd Place (€31,623)

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Igor Kurganov
Igor Kurganov

The action folded to Igor Kurganov on the button who raised to 80,000. Ming Xi was in the big blind and re-raised to 365,000 which Kurganov just called. The flop came {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Xi just open-shoved all in. Kurganov made a quick call for the rest of his 2,000,000 chips.

Ming Xi: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Igor Kurganov: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

Kurganov was in a great position to score a massive double up. However, the {k-Diamonds} on the turn sent the table into a frenzy. Kurganov stood up from his seat with his hands on his head. The dealer burned and turned the {q-Spades} on the river and Kurganov was eliminated in one of the sickest hands of the tournament thus far.

Armin Rezaei: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Milos Skrbic: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Rezaei found himself in a fantastic spot to double up but the brutal {10-Clubs} on the river squashed his Main Event dreams on the spot. Instead, the Austrian walked away with €31,623 as a consolation prize for his 23rd place finish.

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Laszlo Bujtas opened to 85,000 from under the gun and Igor Kurganov three-bet to 275,000 in the cutoff. Bujtas called to see a flop of {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Both players checked and the {j-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

Bujtas checked again and Kurganov fired out a bet of 500,000. Bujtas called and the {6-Hearts} completed the board. Two more checks and Bujtas showed {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the best hand.

In the next hand, Milos Skrbic raised to 85,000 from under the gun and was called by Gary Hasson in the small blind and Bujtas in the big blind. The flop fell {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades} and the action checked to Skrbic who continued for 200,000. Hasson quickly folded but Bujtas called.

Andy Black
Andy Black

On the turn, the board read {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and Andy Black bet 150,000, which got called by Ivan Gabrieli. The river was the {10-Spades} and Black checked, Gabrieli bet 220,000, and the Irish poker legend flicked in a calling chip almost before Gabrieli's bet had even fully crossed the line.

"Straight," said Gabrieli, who showed {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Black showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for the nut flush, to which Gabrieli responded with "wow".

Big Blind Special for Obreshkov

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Dominik Matejka raised from under the gun and Stoyan Obreshkov was the only player to call from the big blind. The flop fell {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts} and both players checked to the {4-Hearts} on the turn.

Obreshkov led out for 80,000 and Matejka called to see the {a-Hearts} on the river. Obreshkov thought for a minute before reaching back for a bet on the larger size of 330,000. Matejka quickly called and Obreshkov turned over {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for trip sixes. Matejka was left shaking his head as Obreshkov pulled in the pot.
