Michael Sklenicka opened to 40,000 from the button, and Lulei Hu called in the small blind, before Catalin Pop promptly three-bet jammed to 570,000 from the big blind.
Both opponents folded relatively quickly, and Pop added a nice bit of dead money to his stack.
Michail Manolakis raised the button to 45,000 and only Ivan Tikhov called from the big blind.
Tikhov check-called a bet of 40,000 from Manolakis on the A♥8♠4♥ flop.
A K♦ appeared on the turn and both players checked to see the J♠ roll off on the river. Tikhov led out for 40,000, and got a quick fold from Manolakis.
Adrian Cazacu raised to 40,000 under the gun and Max Neugebauer called in the cutoff. Govert Metaal then moved all in for 250,000 in the big blind and Cazacu folded, but Neugebauer called to put Metaal at risk.
Govert Metaal: 7♣7♥
Max Neugebauer: A♥J♠
The flop came K♥10♣5♠ to give Neugebauer additional outs with a straight draw, while the K♠ also opened the possibility of counterfeiting Metaal's pair. The 10♠ river put two pair on the board, and Neugebauer's ace-kicker played to send Metaal to the rail.
Max Schoch committed his last 45,000 from early position and Artem Kobylynskyi gave him some protection by raising to 90,000 from the cutoff. This forced the remainder of the table to fold and the cards were flipped over.
Max Schoch :3♦3♣
Artem Kobylynskyi: A♣Q♦
Schoch's pocket treys remained ahead against Kobylynskyi's ace-queen on the 4♠5♣K♠ flop, but the Q♣ on the turn left Schoch needing a two-outer on the river to survive. It wasn't to be as the K♦ completed the board, and Schoch headed to the rail.
Presiyan Tsvetanov raised to 40,000, and Iago Savino three-bet to 110,000 on the button. Daniele Sacchi in the small blind pondered about the next move and jammed for 845,000, forcing out everyone else behind.
Below are further assorted counts after the dinner break.
Last year at King’s Resort, Simone Andrian took down the coveted 2024 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event bracelet and a career-best score of €1,300,000.
Andrian became the 15th player in history to win the WSOPE Main Event, triumphing over a field of 768 entrants. He ultimately defeated Urmo Velvelt in a gripping heads-up duel that lasted over three hours and saw the chip lead change hands multiple times.
“It’s amazing. By far the biggest score of my career. I couldn’t be more happy” he said following his victory. "I’ve been playing here a lot and to have that kind of score here feels special.”
