A flop of A♦4♣4♥ was laid out on the table in a pot between Abdeljebbar Mourid in the small blind an Stepan Budac in the big blind.
Mourid had around 600,000 in his stack and they were all invested in the pot, with Budac putting his opponent at risk.
Abdeljebbar Mourid: 9♠6♠
Stepan Budac: A♥5♥
Mourid had total air, but miraculously found himself with outs on the 6♥ turn as another six would give him a full house. However, the 10♥ river was no good, which meant he hit the rail as Budac raked in the pot.
Jan Bendik moved all in for 480,000 on the button and Andrii Kosak called in early position.
Jan Bendik: A♥10♠
Andrii Kosak: A♠Q♠
Kosak had Bendik dominated and was poised for the knockout until the flop brought 10♥5♠K♥, giving Bendik the lead with a pair of tens. The 9♠ turn gave Kosak a flush draw, but he missed the 2♣ river and Bendik doubled up.
Picking up the action on the J♥7♣5♠ flop, Jan Bendik checked and then faced a bet of 100,000 by Maksym Tsyhryk in the next seat. Bendik check-raised to 875,000, and that sent Tsyhryk into the tank with another 530,000 behind. The floor was called, and within the additional 30 seconds to act, Tsyhryk called off the last of his chips.
Maksym Tsyhryk: A♣K♣
Jan Bendik: Q♠J♣
The A♦ turn vaulted Tsyhryk into the lead, and Bendik was visibly upset. He continued to ramble on after the 2♦ river completed the board and put a major dent in his stack.
Karol Konopka came in with a raise to 80,000 from the cutoff with OIeh Okhotskyi calling on the button, and Ignazio De Rosa defending his big blind.
All three players checked a flop of 6♣9♣10♠ to see the 9♠ come on the turn. De Rosa checked again and Konopka bet 100,000. Okhotskyi quickly called before De Roza check-jammed for around 450,000. This got two quick folds from Konopka and Okhotskyi, meaning De Roza dragged in the pot.
Daniel Frey moved all in for 495,000 in early position and it took the table a few minutes to fold around to Dong He in the big blind, who called to put Frey at risk.
Daniel Frey: A♦Q♣
Dong He: 8♠8♦
The 7♠5♠6♦ flop was no help to Frey, while the 5♥ turn and 5♣ river kept He's eights in the lead and sent Frey to the rail.
Martin Vittek shoved for 835,000 from early position, and Erkan Karakas called off his stack of around 700,000 from the small blind.
Erkan Karakas: Q♥Q♦
Martin Vittek: A♠K♠
It was a huge flip for both players, but it was Karakas who was left with just two outs after the 6♠K♣10♣ flop gave Vittek top pair. Neither the turn nor the river could save Karakas from the rail, which brought his run to an end.
Jan Grow was all in from the big blind for his stack of around 500,000, with Javier Francort trying to bust him from the hijack.
Jan Grow: 9♣9♠
Javier Francort: Q♣Q♦
Francort's ladies had Grow dominated, and he just had to avoid a nine on the runout to move up to over three million in chips.
The dealer fanned out a flop of Q♥A♦6♣, giving Francort a set of queens. Grow was drawing dead once the 6♦ dropped on the turn as the 3♦ river completed the board and cemented Grow's elimination from the tournament.
Heads up on a flop of 4♣2♠9♠, Robin Meyer bet 200,000 from the big blind before Faramarz Safari moved all in from the hijack. The two players had nearly identical stacks, and Meyer went deep into the tank.
Meyer buried his face in his hands before trying to ask Safari some questions. Safari just smiled and remained silent as Meyer spent a few more minutes shaking his head. He eventually grabbed a tower of his chips and stuck them in the middle, to a round of "Wows" from the rest of the table. "Queens or jacks?" a tablemate asked Meyer.
Faramarz Safari: Q♠J♠
Robin Meyer: K♠K♥
Meyer was ahead with his kings and needed to dodge Safari's flush draw as around 3,500,000 was at stake. He stood up from his seat to await the turn, which came the 4♥. The river was the 5♥, and Meyer slammed the table in celebration.
The stacks were counted down, and Meyer had 1,680,000, while Safari had 1,650,000 and was covered by just 30,000. He was sent to the rail.
A full board of K♠3♥K♥K♣3♣ was showing when Presiyan Tsvetanov checked from the big blind and Virgil Marculescu bet 375,000 from under the gun, which was around the size of the pot.
Tsvetanov was in the tank for quite some time while he pondered the decision, and eventually he did flick in the call.
Marculescu then revealed that he had quads with K♦9♦, and Tsvetanov mucked his hand, which left him with around 175,000 in his stack.
