Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
John Wasnock
John Wasnock

John Wasnock jammed for 100,000 form early position. He was called by Boris Kuzmanovic in the cutoff but Frederic Delval in the big blind went into the tank. He eventually moved all-in for 231,000 and Kuzmanovic called.

Wasnock kept the lead all the way through a board of 4J9K4 and tripled up while Kuzmanovic claimed the side pot with a pair of jacks and Delval was eliminated. “It’s the second hand I’ve played today. It was a good spot,” he said after leaving the table.

Casino Bye Bye

Level 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

“Martin Kabrhel has more time banks than chips,” WSOP Live wrote as Kabrhel had just 22,000 under the gun. He began talking in an attempt to use as many time banks as possible, but after more than five minutes, a floor staff member warned him not to abuse the situation.

WSOP tournament director Andy Tillman stepped in to handle the situation as Luca Stevanato was more and more frustrated watching Kabrhel use all 18 of his time banks. Stevanato was told to stay calm as Kabrhel continued to take his extra time.

After more than ten minutes, Kabrhel eventually raised to 21,000, leaving himself just 1,000 behind. Stevanato then raised to 60,000 from the cutoff, and after using his final time bank card, Kabrhel made the call.

Luca Stevanato: 44

Kabrhel flopped a pair on 81057J to double up.

In the next hand, Kasperi Ilkka opened to 20,000 from under the gun. Kabrhel in the big blind raised to 68,000 and Ilkka called. He bet 25,000 on the Q3J flop and Kabrhel check-called off his last 1,000.

Kasperi Ilkka: A10

Kabrhel found aces at the right moment. The 82 runout changed nothing and he doubled up again.

However his show came to an end moments later with 88 against A10 on 75AQQ and he was eliminated in 278th place for €10,000.

The pot was around 100,000 and the board showed 654K. Ignat Liviu, in the big blind, led out with a bet of 65,000. Yuxi Huang on the button took her time, using one time bank card, before making the call.

The river brought the 7 and Liviu fired 80,000. Huang checked her cards, burned one more time bank card, and then shoved all in for around 250,000. Liviu folded quickly, giving up the pot to Huang.

356 Players Advance to Day 3 of a Record-Breaking WSOP Europe Main Event

Late registration has closed and the bubble burst during Day 2, so the main milestones of the €5,300 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event at King’s Casino in Hilton Prague are now behind us. However, one goal remains: the €2,000,000 top prize and the prestigious WSOPE gold bracelet.

From a record-breaking field of 2,617 entries, which pushed the prize pool past the €10 million guarantee to reach €13,085,000, 356 players remain and are in the money heading into Day 3 this Thursday, all hoping to advance another step.

One player who certainly can’t complain about his position is Thomas Eychenne, who bagged the chip lead at the end of Day 2 with a massive 2,010,000, more than 250 big blinds at the restart. The Frenchman is followed by Daan Mulders (1,721,000), who burst the bubble, while Giovanni Zanette sits third in chips with 1,467,000.

Even though Day 2 of this WSOPE Main Event saw nearly 1,000 players eliminated in a single day, the field remains highly competitive, with players like Alex Keating (1,150,000), Chris Hunichen (1,047,000), Alexandre Reard (1,017,000), Shiina Okamoto (982,000), and Day 1c chip leader Daniel Rezaei (967,000) among the top stacks.

The 2019 WSOPE Main Event champion Alexandros Kolonias (854,000) is also still in contention, alongside Josh Arieh (812,000), Roberto Romanello (803,000), Shaun Deeb (689,000), who doubled on the bubble, Tom-Aksel Bedell (673,000), and Nacho Barbero (631,000).

Nineteen years after her victory, Annette Obrestad bagged 581,000 and will be seated next to Jesse Lonis (540,000) on today’s Day 3. Espen Jorstad (471,000), Aliaksei Boika (441,000), and Anthony Zinno (425,000) are all above the average stack, while Zdenek Zizka (284,000), Jason Wheeler (260,000), Erick Lindgren (246,000), vlogger Martin Kabrhel (162,000), and Simone Andrian (141,000) trail further behind, all the way down to Stoyan Madanzhiev (44,000) and Eero Palmu (11,000).

Play resumes at noon local time, with blinds at 5,000/10,000 and a 10,000 big blind ante. Six more 90-minute levels are scheduled for today’s Day 3, with a 15-minute break after each level and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 20. As on the previous days, the action can also be followed on stream on the WSOP YouTube channel.
