In the first hand of the day, Maria Konnikova raised to 300 only to have Tony Wasaya three-bet to 1,300. Arthur Morris called, Konnikova folded, and it was heads-up action to a {2-}{4-}{6-} rainbow flop.

Wasaya continued for 7,000, Morris called, and the {9-Clubs} appeared on the turn, which put out a potential flush draw.

Wasaya bet 13,000 and then snap-called when Morris raised all in.

Tony Wasaya: {a-}{a-}
Arthur Morris: {2-}{2-}

Morris had flopped a set and cracked aces after the river bricked. Just like that, the first player fell in the 2021 Wynn Millions.

There was four-way action that saw a {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop and Nitis Udornpim continued for 1,500. Daniel Negreanu raised to 5,500 and all three opponents called bringing the {a-Spades} turn.

Chris Brewer Transitions from Collegiate Runner to High-Stakes Pro

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante
Chris Brewer
Chris Brewer

Not many experiences can ready you for the high-stakes poker scene, but Chris Brewer’s career as a collegiate runner at the University of Oregon has seemingly prepared him well for a life in pressure poker.

After waking up early every day to compete with the best runners in the world, life in poker is relatively simple by comparison for the 27-year-old from California. The schedule is much easier and the grind is more rewarding, which made for a smooth transition into a poker career immediately out of college.

Brewer has been on a tear both online and in live tournaments, something that he has only recently started playing with more frequency. His massive online success includes a quarterfinal finish in the 2020 WSOP $10,000 Online Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship and a recent win in the $10,000 High Roller tournament during partypoker's WPT Online series in May.

Brewer has also run well on the live tournament scene, where he had three top-three finishes at the Wynn High Rollers series at the end of 2020. In January, Brewer beat 21 entrants to claim the $113,400 first prize in the third event on tour at the Aria High Roller series.

Pavlo Veksler

Action on the table folded around to the button player who raised to 1,200 and was called by Ralph Wong from the small blind, along with Pavlo Veksler from the big blind.

The {7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop was checked to the initial raiser who continued for 2,500 and Wong raised to 8,500. Action was on Veksler who three-bet jammed for 34,700 and was called by Wong.

Ralph Wong: {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Pavlo Veksler: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}

Both players flopped two-pair but Veksler held the better hand and neither the {k-Diamonds} turn nor the {2-Clubs} river changed a thing.

Artashes Kartalyan raised to 1,500 from late position and was called by the hijack player before Alex Foxen three-bet to 6,600 on the button.

After the blinds folded, both Kartalyan and the hijack player called, bringing about the {3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop.

Action was checked to Foxen who continued for 6,600 and Kartalyan raised all in for 8,400. The hijack player folded while Foxen called and the two players tabled their hands.

Alex Foxen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Artashes Kartalyan: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
