Short Race Break

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Before the last level of the night begins, the tournament staff has paused the clock in order to race off the black T100 chips. With roughly 300 still in contention, the processes could take a little bit giving the players an impromptu break.

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Andrew Heckman
Andrew Heckman

The player under the gun opened for 2,700 and found three callers which included Andrew Heckman from the cutoff before the player in the big blind three-bet jammed.

Only Heckman called and the two players tabled their hands.

Opponent: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Andrew Heckman: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

It was a classic race with Heckman looking to stay in the lead and he did after the {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} board ran out.

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action on the table folded around to the player in the cutoff who raised to 2,700 and Dylan Linde defended his big blind to see a {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop.

Both players checked bringing the {4-Spades} turn where Linde led out with a 4,000 uncontested bet.

"I Never..."

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Nick Rigby
Nick Rigby

Just before registration closed, Pittsburgh's Nick Rigby jumped into the tournament. According to him, he did so after some good luck at the blackjack tables.

"I never satellites a main by playing blackjack," he said with a big smile.

While he wasn't the last player to register the tournament, he was close to it. Only time will tell if jumping in so late will work to his advantage.

Foutty Makes a Great Call

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

There was heads-up action between Stephen Foutty from early position and the player in the small blind.

The board read {4-Hearts}{k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and the small blind led out for 18,000 into a 50,000 pot. Foutty took some time in the tank and then tossed out a call. Action went check-check after the {5-Clubs} completed the board on the river and both players tabled their hands.

The small blind tabled {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} but it was no good as Foutty rolled over {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} to win the pot.

Queens Good for White

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Marshall White opened for 7,700 from under the gun and found one caller from middle position.

The {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Spades} was checked by both players to the {9-Clubs} turn where White led out for 8,000. His opponent called and the dealer dropped the {8-Clubs} on the river. White led out once again this time for 18,000 and his opponent called only to muck his hand after seeing White table {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}.
