McKellar Scores Double Knockout

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante
Pierce McKellar
Pierce McKellar

With roughly 20,000 in the pot on a {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop, Pierce McKellar bet 4,000 in the small blind, a middle position player called, and the cutoff called.

The {4-Clubs} landed on the turn and McKellar moved in his stack of 30,200. Both opponents called all in and were covered.

Cutoff: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Middle Position: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Pierce McKellar: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

"Brick one time," McKellar pleaded.

The {5-Clubs} river did just that to keep McKellar ahead with his cowboys.

"That's what we're looking for!" McKellar exclaimed. "Yeah PokerNews, write that down," he said as he scooped the pot and soared to the top of the early Day 1a leaderboard.

Castano-Villarrea Gives It Up

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Andrea Castano-Villarrea opened to 600 from under the gun and was called by Ronan Sweeney one seat over as well as a player in middle position and Michael Brinkenhoff out of the big blind.

Brinkenhoff checked on the {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop and Castano-Villarrea continued for 800. Sweeney called as did the middle position player but Brinkenhoff folded to send action three-way to the turn.

Castano-Villarrea unloaded another bet, this time 3,200, on the {9-Hearts} turn. Sweeney folded his hand but the middle position player was going nowhere and called.

On the {q-Hearts} river Castano-Villarrea bet once more only to see his opponent raise to 12,000. Convinced his holding was no good, Castano-Villarrea folded to send the reasonably large pot his opponent's way.

Weng Wins Big One Early

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Bin Weng
Bin Weng

A player opened to 400 from early position and was called by Bin Weng in middle position as well as a player in the cutoff. Action folded to the big blind, who defended to send the players four-way to the flop.

The big blind checked on a flop of {10-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{6-Hearts} to the preflop raiser, who continued for 1,000. Weng and the big blind made the call while the cutoff player folded.

The {7-Clubs} saw the player in the big blind check for a second time and the early position raiser fire off another bet of 2,500. Weng again called and the big blind responded with a raise to 6,600. The early position player released her holding but Weng, far from discouraged, reraised to 15,000. The big blind went into the tank before eventually tossing their cards forcefully into the muck to send a large pot Weng's way early during the day's play.

Senic Shoves River

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

With roughly 8,000 in the pot on a {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades} completed board, Ezequiel Waigel had 13,000 over the betting line on the button and was facing an all in for 34,400 by Andrej Senic in the big blind.

Waigel thought about it but let go of his hand to concede the pot without a showdown.

"Show a ten of hearts," a player at the table urged Senic, but his cards went into the muck face down as he collected the pot.
