Reixach Puts Pressure on Tice

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Sergi Reixach
Sergi Reixach

Sergi Reixach opened to 1,400 from the button and received a single call from Landon Tice out of the big blind.

Tice checked on a flop of {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Reixach continued for 1,400. Without too much hesitation, Tice called.

Action checked through the {9-Hearts} turn to the {7-Spades} river. Tice checked for a third time and Reixach, after eyeing up his opponent's stack, bet enough to force Tice all in. Tice instantly mucked to keep Reixach chipping up at a fast rate.

British Poker Player John Howard Ships $1,100 NLH Wynn Summer Classic Tournament

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
John Howard
John Howard

The top two finishers in the Wynn Summer Classic's June 4 $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament are from the United Kingdom. John Howard took first place for $58,942, while his fellow countryman, Raul Martinez Gallero, was the runner-up and received $36,385.

The tournament had an impressive field of 238 entrants. With $233,240 in the pot, there wasn't much of a sweat for the Wynn's poker room to hit the $200,000 guarantee. Thus far, the Wynn Summer Classic has been absolutely crushing it in terms of attendance, and this event was no outlier.

Howard beat a tough field that included some talented pros such as Justin Liberto (7th place for $7,557). He didn't just score big at the Wynn. The champ essentially earned his first ever recorded live tournament cash. According to Hendon Mob, his only other previous cash was for $28 back in 2009.

Platt Suffers Cooler

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Jeff Platt
Jeff Platt

A player opened under the gun to 1,200 and Jeff Platt three-bet to 4,000 from one seat over only to see a player in late position shove all in. Action folded back around to Platt who made the call with the bigger stack.

Late Position Player: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Jeff Platt: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Platt was behind and would need help to scoop a large pot and bust his opponent. He did pick up a gutshot on the {10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop but found no further help on the {6-Clubs} turn or {2-Diamonds} river. Despite the loss, Platt is still among the big stacks in the room.

Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

With roughly 8,000 in the pot on a {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Spades} board, Philip Shing checked in early position, and Ian Matakis bet 5,000 on the button. Shing called.

The {5-Hearts} completed the board, Shing checked, and Matakis moved all in for approximately 25,000. Shing thought about it but sent his cards into the muck to concede the pot without a showdown.

Cheng Shoves River

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Gary Cheng
Gary Cheng

On a board reading {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{j-Spades} a player in the small blind led out for 15,500 and Gary Cheng on the button responded by shoving his stack of 27,500 into the middle. His opponent went deep into the tank."It's never a bluff," the small blind player mused. He had only a few chips behind, a fact that, as he put it, makes it "so hard to fold". Eventually, though, the player in the small blind was able to find a fold, leaving himself just 12,500 behind and sending a pot of over 60,000 Cheng's way.

Aces Up for Reixach

Sergi Reixach
Sergi Reixach

With roughly 15,000 in the middle on a {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} board, Sergi Reixach bet 10,000 in the small blind. The cutoff player thought about it and called.

The {4-Clubs} completed the board and Reixach bet out four pink T-5,000 chips, covering his opponent's stack of about 18,000. His opponent called fairly quickly.

Reixach revealed {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} to claim the pot with two pair and send his opponent to the rail.

Weng Cannot Empty Clip

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

A player in the cutoff opened to 800 and Bin Weng three-bet to 2,800 from the button. Action folded back around to the original raiser, who called.

The cutoff player checked on a flop of {k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Spades} and Weng continued for 2,400. It was not enough to shed his opponent, who made the call.

Action was once again checked to Weng after the {a-Clubs} turn and he fired off 9,600. His opponent again called.

The {2-Spades} river put three spades on the board and for a third time the cutoff player checked. Weng mulled over his decision but eventually checked back and mucked after his opponent showed {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}.
