Break Time

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

The remaining players have been sent on their final 15-minute break of the day. They will return to blinds of 2,000/3,000 with a 3,000 big blind ante. At that point, they will play three more 40-minute levels before the survivors bag for the night.

Peters Goes For It All

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Picking up the action on the flop, David Peters in the big blind was involved in a hand with a player in late position. With the board reading {j-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} Peters check-called a bet of 6,000 from his opponent.

Action checked through the {6-Diamonds} turn to the {a-Spades} river where, after some thought, Peters moved all in. His opponent did eventually fold to send more chips Peters' way.

Kanit Coolered by Schillhabel

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

Stefan Schillhabel had gotten his 108,500 chips in from middle position and was at risk against Mustapha Kanit in early position.

Stefan Schillhabel: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Mustapha Kanit: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Kanit was in rough shape running his big slick into rockets, and the {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop instantly left him drawing dead, as the meaningless {5-Diamonds} and {9-Hearts} completed the board to confirm the result.

Kanit was left with only around 15,000 chips and was seen exiting the tournament area shortly after.

Van Zadelhoff Victim of Cracked Aces

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Steven Van Zadelhoff
Steven Van Zadelhoff

Picking up the action on the turn, Joe McKeehen from under the gun was involved in a hand with Steven van Zadelhoff in the cutoff and a player in the big blind. With the board reading {4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades} the big blind checked and McKeehen bet out 5,000. Van Zadelhoff called while the big blind folded to send the two players to the river.

McKeehen bet enough to force van Zadelhoff all in on the {q-Hearts} river and the Dutchman snap called. Van Zadelhoff held {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} but his rockets were shot down by McKeehen, who had rivered a straight with {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. Just as he was standing to go, van Zadelhoff was handed a beer he had ordered with tablemate Chance Kornuth. In a show of good sportsmanship, he clinked glasses with Kornuth and wished the table good luck before making his exit.

Texan Maziar Keshavarzi Comes to Town to Smash $1,100 NLH Wynn Summer Classic Tournament

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Maziar Keshavarzi
Maziar Keshavarzi

What a day June 5, 2022 was for Maziar Keshavarzi, who hails from San Antonio, Texas. The Lone Star State poker player took on the $1,100 no-limit hold'em event at the Wynn Summer Classic and completely obliterated his competition to the tune of a $46,107 payday via a three-way chop with Tyler Cormney, who received $43,346, and Kobi Ribak (3rd place for $29,781).

Although the final two payouts were close, Keshavarzi received the shiny Wynn Resorts replica trophy for winning heads-up play. Anthony Denove, who is from the Los Angeles area, finished in 4th place for $16,560.

The $200,000 guaranteed NLH tournament had 238 entries for a final prize pool of $233,240. Some big name players finished in the money, including Poker Hall of Famer David Oppenheim (10th place for $4,606), Sam Panzica (22nd place for $2,603), and Scott Baumstein (24th place for $2,367).

England Applies Pressure

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

A player in the cutoff opened to 5,000 and Brian England three-bet to 15,500 on the button. Action folded back around to the cutoff, who made the call to send the two players heads-up to the flop.

The cutoff checked on the {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} flop and England continued for 12,000. It was not enough to shed his opponent, who flatted.

Both players checked on the {a-Diamonds} turn to the {2-Diamonds} river. The cutoff player sized up a bet to 22,000 and England, after some consideration, raised enough to force his opponent all in. That raise was met by an instant muck from the player in the cutoff, who was left short.

Peters Clocked and Rivered

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
David Peters
David Peters

On a {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} board, David Peters was in middle position and facing a jam by the cutoff player for about 53,000 chips. After some time, the clock was called on him.

As the tournament director gave a countdown and was within a few seconds of declaring his hand dead, Peters put in the calling chips.

At-Risk Opponent: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
David Peters: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Peters was ahead, but the {4-Hearts} hit the felt on the river to give his opponent a flush and put a dent in Peters' stack.

Ivers Boosted by Rockets

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Ian Ivers
Ian Ivers

Andrew Ivers in the cutoff found himself all in with the bigger stack against an under the gun player.

Under the Gun Player: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Andrew Ivers: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Ivers was well ahead and in a good place to score the knockout and a huge pot in the process. The {3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop changed nothing, nor did the {10-Spades} turn. The {q-Spades} river did bring paint but not one of the two jacks the at risk player was looking for, sending Ivers soaring above 200,000.
