Mateos Takes a Pot

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Adrian Mateos opened to 2,000 in middle position, the button three-bet to 6,400, and Mateos called.

The duo checked the {q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop to the {8-Diamonds} turn. Mateos led with a bet, and his opponent folded to concede the pot.

Meanwhile, Uri Reichenstein and Andrew Lichtenberger at the table have also chipped up recently.

Sande Makes Tough Call

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Leonard Sande
Leonard Sande

Picking up the action on the river, Leonard "LJ" Sande in the big blind was involved in a hand with an early position player. With the board reading {3-Hearts}{a-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} and the pot size sitting at a little over 20,000, Sande checked and his opponent moved all in for around 13,500. Sande went into the tank, considering his decision for quite a while, but emerged having settled on a call. His opponent turned over {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a bluff while Sande revealed he held {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts} to scoop the pot and send his opponent to the rail.

McKeehen Rivers Wheel

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Joe McKeehen
Joe McKeehen

A player opened to 2,200 in the cutoff, Joe McKeehen three-bet to 8,000 in the small blind, and the cutoff called.

The dealer spread the {k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop, McKeehen led for 4,500, and the cutoff called.

McKeehen led for 7,000 on the {3-Clubs} turn and was again called. The {4-Diamonds} completed the board, McKeehen moved all in for around 25,000, and the cutoff called.

McKeehen tabled {a-Spades}{2-Spades}, much to the dismay of his opponent, and scooped the pot with his wheel.

Ensan In Shoving Mood

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Since the start of the day, Hossein Ensan has slipped down the chip counts to become a relative short stack. Action folded to the cutoff, who opened to 2,000. Ensan then shoved for around 20,000 out of the small blind and the cutoff folded

The very next hand the same player, this time in late position, opened to 2,000 and once again Ensan, on the button, shoved. "It's always good to double up an easy player," joked the late position player as he, in identical fashion to the previous hand, was unable to find a call.

Obreshkov Jams River

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Stoyan Obreshkov
Stoyan Obreshkov

Stoyan Obreshkov opened to 2,000 from early position and was three-bet to 7,200 by the small blind. Obreshkov made the call to send the two players heads-up to the flop.

The small blind continued for 5,500 on a flop of {7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Obreshkov called.

Action checked through the {6-Clubs} turn to the {3-Clubs} river where the small blind again checked. Obreshkov, after counting out his stack, announced all in. The small blind player did not seem to believe him but, with an extremely wet board texture, he did eventually release his hand to send the pot in Obreshkov's direction.

Cheong Finds Help to Bust Hallaert

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Kenny Hallaert had gotten his stack of approximately 28,000 in from the small blind and was at risk against Joseph Cheong in middle position.

Kenny Hallaert: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Joseph Cheong: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Hallaert was in great shape until the dealer fanned the {j-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop. The {7-Clubs} turn left him needing an ace, but the {7-Spades} river bricked out to send the pot to Cheong.

Wheeler Moving Up

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

With roughly 10,000 in the pot on a {k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Clubs} board, the big blind player check-called for 5,000 against Jason Wheeler in the cutoff.

The {k-Hearts} completed the board and the big blind player led for 13,000. Wheeler quickly called.

Wheeler tabled {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for trips to defeat his opponent's {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and he collected the pot.

Chip Confusion Costs Schulman

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

A player in the cutoff opened to 1,700 and Joe Schulman on the button as well as the big blind called to send action three-way to the flop.

The big blind checked on a flop of {2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and the cutoff continued for 1,300. Schulman called while the big blind folded.

On the {k-Diamonds} turn the cutoff fired off another bet, this time a chunkier 5,500. After some consideration, Schulman put 1,500 into the pot, having confused the orange T-1000 chips with the pink T-5000 chips. After being informed of the error, Schulman did put the required 5,500 into the pot.

After the {8-Diamonds} river the cutoff, perhaps working on the assumption that Schulman had only called the turn bet because of its perceived smaller size, bet out 15,000 which was met by an instantaneous fold.
