Bonnaci Finds Money River

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

A player opened to 1,200 from under the gun and action folded around to Frank Bonnaci in the big blind, who defended.

Bonnaci checked on the {j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} flop and called after his opponent continued for 2,200.

Action checked through the {k-Spades} turn to the {4-Clubs} river, where Bonnaci took over the betting lead, tossing 5,600 into the middle. The under the gun player gave it some thought but did end up calling and was shown {5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} by Bonnaci for rivered two pair, causing him to muck his own holding.

Harwood's Ascent Continues

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Picking up the action after the flop, Loni Harwood in middle position was involved in a hand with the small blind and big blind. With the board reading {7-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{8-Spades} action was checked to Harwood, who led out for 2,500. The small blind called while the big blind folded to send action heads-up to the turn.

On the {7-Clubs} turn the small blind checked for a second time and Harwood, unafraid of inflating the pot, pushed 8,000 into the middle. Again, her opponent made the call.

The small blind checked once more after the {10-Hearts} river, prompting Harwood to continue her aggressive line with a bet of 15,000. The player in the small blind thought for some time before calling and was shown {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}, a hand he could not beat, sending the large pot Harwood's way and keeping her moving up the chip counts.

British Poker Player John Howard Ships $1,100 NLH Wynn Summer Classic Tournament

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
John Howard
John Howard

The top two finishers in the Wynn Summer Classic's June 4 $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament are from the United Kingdom. John Howard took first place for $58,942, while his fellow countryman, Raul Martinez Gallero, was the runner-up and received $36,385.

The tournament had an impressive field of 238 entrants. With $233,240 in the pot, there wasn't much of a sweat for the Wynn's poker room to hit the $200,000 guarantee. Thus far, the Wynn Summer Classic has been absolutely crushing it in terms of attendance, and this event was no outlier.

Howard beat a tough field that included some talented pros such as Justin Liberto (7th place for $7,557). He didn't just score big at the Wynn. The champ essentially earned his first ever recorded live tournament cash. According to Hendon Mob, his only other previous cash was for $28 back in 2009.

Petkov On the Right End of Cooler

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Lachezar Petkov
Lachezar Petkov

Some details of this hand were related to PokerNews by the table. Mark Zajdner opened in late position and Lachezar Petkov three-bet jammed out of the big blind. Zajdner made the call with the bigger stack to put his opponent at risk.

Lachezar Petkov: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Mark Zajdner: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Zajdner had been hit by a cruelly cold deck but could still come from behind. That outcome became far less likely after the {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop with the {j-Clubs} turn and {7-Hearts} river completing a clean runout for Petkov.

Albert Nguyen
Albert Nguyen

The dealer spread the {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop and Nguyen's remaining stack of approximately 39,000 went into the middle.

Albert Nguyen: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Robert Borick: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

Both players had an overpair, but it was Nguyen ahead with the aces, and the {9-Diamonds} and {q-Hearts} completed the board to secure Nyguyen's double.
