Mateos Takes a Pot

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Adrian Mateos opened to 2,000 in middle position, the button three-bet to 6,400, and Mateos called.

The duo checked the {q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop to the {8-Diamonds} turn. Mateos led with a bet, and his opponent folded to concede the pot.

Meanwhile, Uri Reichenstein and Andrew Lichtenberger at the table have also chipped up recently.

Lady Luck Comes to Kamphues' Rescue

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Timo Kamphues
Timo Kamphues

Timo Kamphues open shoved from under the gun and a player one seat over re-jammed with the larger stack. The remaining players got out of the way and Kamphues was officially at risk.

Timo Kamphues: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Early Position Player: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Kamphues was dominated and would need significant help to survive. The {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop did give him some chop outs but after the {9-Hearts} turn failed to improve Kamphues, he began to rise from his seat, perhaps seeking the extra equity that that move offers. If so, he was rewarded when the {q-Spades} hit the river, giving him a full double up.

Ensan Ousts Hutter and Stamm

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Hossein Ensan
Hossein Ensan

Just before the blinds went up, David Stamm in the cutoff and Barry Hutter in the big blind were both at risk against Hossein Ensan in middle position.

David Stamm: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Barry Hutter: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Hossein Ensan: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop gave unlikely chop outs for the two at-risk players if the case six were to come, but the {8-Spades} and {4-Diamonds} completed the board to secure the pot for Ensan, while Hutter and Stamm made their exits from the table.

Tantillo Felts Obreshkov

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Fausto Tantillo
Fausto Tantillo

Adrian Mateos opened to 2,500 from early position and Stoyan Obreshkov shoved for 18,100 from late position. Fausto Tantillo then re-jammed for around 33,000 from the cutoff and action folded back around to Mateos, who wasted no time letting his hand go.

Stoyan Obreshkov: {8-}{8-}
Fausto Tantillo: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Obreshkov was at risk and in bad shape. The {4-Hearts}{a-Spades}{4-Spades} flop kept Tantillo ahead with the {7-Spades} turn leaving Obreshkov drawing extremely thin. No miracle was to be found on the {6-Diamonds} river, forcing Obreshkov to make his exit.

Cheong Gone

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Picking up the action on the turn, Joseph Cheong on the button was involved in a pot with a player in middle position. With the board reading {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs} action was checked to Cheong, who moved all in. His opponent went into the tank before eventually making the call with the bigger stack to put Cheong at risk.

Joseph Cheong: {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Middle Position Player: {9-Spades}{8-Spades}

Cheong was behind his opponent's top pair but did have a gutshot alongside a pair and flush draw. The {4-Spades} river bricked out, however, sending Cheong packing just prior to the dinner break.
