The Money Bubble Looms on Day 3 of the $3,500 Main Event

Chips and Cards
Chips and Cards

There will be 157 players returning to their seats for Day 3 of the $3,500 Main Event at the 2023 Wynn Millions. This will also be the first time that the entire field will be playing together as the survivors from each of the Day 2s will join forces. with just 134 places paid, everyone will have their sights set on reaching the money and locking up at least $8,386.

Leading the way after an impressive Day 2c is Jacob Powers who bagged up a stack of 1,082,000 chips, the only player to surpass the seven-figure mark. Powers has been near the top of the leaderboard throughout the event and is showing no signs of slowing down, coming off his career-high score of $500,000 just two months ago. Powers will be looking to apply pressure to the smaller stacks when the opportunity arises, but for now he will have to deal with some of the bigger stacks at his new table.

Other big stacks joining him on Day 3 include Lenard Adams who was battling him for the chip lead throughout most of the day yesterday. Adams continued to put his unorthodox play style to full use and finished Day 2c with a stack of 977,000 chips. The Day 2ab chip leader, Michael Rossitto, will come into the day in third place with a stack of 966,000 and looking to do some more damage. Alex Foxen, Lawrence Berg, Michael Dyer, and Jake Schwartz all sit in the top 10 on the leaderboard and have a big list of accomplishments as well.

The cards are slated to go in the air at 12 p.m. noon local time with the blinds resuming on level 15 at 3,000/6,000 and a 6,000 big blind ante. The levels will continue to be 90 minutes in length throughout the tournament with a 15-minute break after each level. There will be five levels on the schedule for today with no dinner break, meaning play could end around 9 p.m. tonight.

The action may be slow to start with the money bubble on the horizon and the short stacks treading water. The field is just over 20 eliminations away from locking up some cash, upon which we should see the action heat up after that. The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the live updates throughout the day including the hand-for-hand process on the money bubble.

Foxen Gets Paid Off Early

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and around 50,000 in the middle, Alex Foxen tossed in a bet of 35,000 in early position. Orestis Kanakopoulos check-called from the big blind and the {4-Spades} hit the river.

Kanakopoulos checked again and Foxen announced a bet of 125,000 while he was sticking up his chips from the bag. Kanakopoulos looked him up and Foxen turned over {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} as another mound of chips was pushed his way.

Kornuth Picks Up Early Pot

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Jake Schwartz opened the action to 12,000 from the cutoff and only Chance Kornuth made the call in the big blind.

The flop came {j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Kornuth check-called a bet of 10,000 from Schwartz. On the {3-Hearts} turn both players checked their options to the {5-Clubs} river.

Kornuth took a moment before tossing in a bet of 18,000, and without much thought, Schwartz flicked in a chip for the call. Kornuth tabled {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for a pair of jacks and took down the pot when Schwartz mucked his cards.

Dyer Escapes the Trap with Limited Damage

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Michael Rossitto opened to 13,000 under the gun and Michael Dyer reraised to 38,000 in the hijack. The action folded back to Rossitto who called to see a flop of {q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Both players checked and the {a-Spades} landed on the turn. Rossitto checked again and Dyer counted out a bet of 63,000. Rossitto just called and the {6-Spades} completed the board. Rossitto checked once more and Dyer checked it back. Rossitto flipped over {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} for a full house and Dyer mucked.

Javier Finds a One-Outer to Stay Alive

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Kevin Javier
Kevin Javier

On a board reading {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, three players were still in the hand with around 45,000 in the middle. Faraz Jaka was the first to throw in a bet of 13,000 and Kevin Javier just called. Pierre De Almeida check-raised to 42,000 which got Jaka out but Javier shoved all in for 127,000. De Almeida quickly called and the cards were on their backs.

Kevin Javier: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Pierre De Almeida: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Both players flopped a set and things weren't looking very good for Javier. However, the {7-Clubs} peeled off on the river and Javier made quad sevens. A loud eruption came out of De Almeida as he was left with just a few big blinds and was eliminated shortly after.

McDiarmid And Alegado Get To Showdown

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The action folded to Zachary McDiarmid in the hijack who opened for 12,000 and both Harvey Alegado in the cutoff and JC Tran in the big blind made the call.

The flop fanned out {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{7-Spades} and all three players checked their options to the {9-Diamonds} turn. Tran and McDiarmid checked to Alegado who bet out 24,000 and only McDiarmid called.

The {5-Clubs} completed the board and play went check-check to a showdown. McDiarmid rolled over {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for a pair of queens and Alegado tabled the same hand with {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs} to chop up the pot.
