Rome Emperors, Headed by Max Pescatori, Draw Top Pick in Global Poker League Draft

Max Pescatori, Rome Emperors

One of the most ambitious attempts to push poker further into the mainstream consciousness officially kicked off with the Global Poker League draft lottery, which determined the drafting order for the 12 franchises. After 10 minutes of drama as the teams were selected in reverse order, the Rome Emperors drew the top pick in the draft, scheduled to take place Feb. 25 in Los Angeles.

The drawing of draft order took place on GPL's Twitch stream, where it should be available for archive viewing at some point soon. GPL Chief Executive Officer Alex Dreyfus appeared on stream with a bowl containing yellow balls in front of him. After announcing that a fourth player would be added to each team, the stream cut to an interview with Eric Danis, who provided some brief analysis of the draft.

When the stream returned to the lottery room, the draw began, and here's the order:

With that, Rome Emperors manager Max Pescatori is officially on the clock.
