Kevin "therealkg" Gerhart Wins Second Career Bracelet in WSOP Online Event #20

Kevin Gerhart wins WSOP gold bracelet in back-to-back years

On Monday night, the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Event #20: $500 PLO 6-Handed attracted 627 players who rebought 510 times. The 1,137-entry field generated a $511,650 prize pool and after 13 hours of play, Ohio native Kevin "therealkg" Gerhart, who now resides in Las Vegas, captured the $97,571.65 top prize and his second gold bracelet.

Gerhart’s first piece of WSOP hardware came last year when he took down the 2019 WSOP Event #54: $1,500 Razz for $119,054. It was a career-high live score for Gerhart, who according to HendonMob has just over $600K in live tournament earnings.

That includes $10,493 and a ring for winning the 2018 WSOP Circuit Planet Hollywood Event #6: $400 PLO, as well as $69,561 for winning the Wynn Winter Classic $600 NLH Event back in December.

After Kenneth “KBconcepts” Phillips bubbled in 151st place, the in-the-money finishers included Jamie “DanBilzerian” Kerstetter (111th - $920.97), Phil “Lumestackin” Hellmuth (95th - $920.97), Ryan “bitc0in” Riess (55th - $1,227.96), Event #12 champ Ryan “joeyisamush” Depaulo (51st - $1,381.45), Shaun “ddtgg” Deeb (36th - $2,30242), Tom “looter” Marchese (12th - $5,935.14), Connor “666666” Drinan (11th - $5,935.14), and Tammy “rynom” Brindise (8th - $10,591.15).

Gerhart began the final table as the chip leader while Shanmukha “Shanmukha” Meruga was the short stack and first to fall. Meruga got it in good calling off on the flop with nines against Gerhart’s threes, but the latter turned two pair for the win.

Cody “Duckmoney420” Brinn then dispatched Adam “AdamJ080584” Jones in fifth place after making trip queens to overcome tens, and then Chris “Robotbob47” Moorman let it ride on a flopped gutshot straight draw against Gerhart’s two pair, which held to eliminate the online legend in fourth place.

New Jersey’s Jenny “Mobey” Svancara, the first woman to make a final table in the 2020 WSOP, bowed out in third place after getting it in with a flopped two pair only to have Gerhart turn a bigger two pair. The $41,290 she received for her deep run marked her sixth cash of the series.

Gerhart began heads-up play holding a slight chip lead over Brinn, but an early double saw the latter pull out to a 7:1 lead of their own. The two would jostle back and forth until Gerhart double back into the lead before closing it out by completing a wrap draw on the turn against Brinn's overpair.
