2021 WSOP Day 27: Glaser Leads Final 8 $10K NL 2-7 Championship as Negreanu Alive Hunting for Seventh Bracelet

Day 27 of the 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) featured another full day of poker action at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in sunny Las Vegas with Oct. 26 featuring six bracelet events.

Tommy Le won the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship for the second time to win his second WSOP bracelet. Alexandre Reard gave France its first taste of WSOP gold at the Rio this year after shipping Event #47: $5,000 Freezeout NLH, while dreams came true for Anthony Denove, who got his first taste of WSOP gold after shipping Event #43: $1,000 Double Stack No-Limit Hold'em.

Three events are still in play highlighted by Benny Glaser leading the final eight in the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Championship with Daniel Negreanu in the middle of the pack hunting for his seventh taste at WSOP gold.

Glaser Leads; Negreanu and Schwartz Return for Day 3 of Event #49: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship

Benny Glaser leads the eight players that will return for the finale of Event #49: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship at the 2021 World Series of Poker. The final eight will return tomorrow live at PokerGO for the opportunity to take home the WSOP gold bracelet and $297,051 for the victory.

Glaser’s last WSOP title came when he went back-to-back in the $1,500 and $10,000 Omaha 8-or-Better events in 2016. He is seeking gold bracelet number four, and he is joined in the final group by fellow bracelet winners Johannes Becker, Farzad Bonyadi, Daniel Negreanu, and Julien Martini. This is Glaser’s fifth cash at the 2021 WSOP.

Negreanu will enter Day 3 in the middle of the pack, and the six-time champion will look for an opportunity to jump into contention. He came into Day 2 with one of the smaller stacks and fought hard to bag over a half-million chips with which he will return for the finale.

Jake Schwartz continues his red-hot 2021 WSOP with his 10th cash and his fifth final table. He will return for an opportunity to chase his first WSOP bracelet after several near misses. Schwartz joins Ben Diebold and Dustin Dirksen as the players that will try to win their first title.

Event #49 $10K NL 2-7 Championship Seat Draw

Shawn Sheikhan, Mike Gorodinsky, Shaun Deeb, Anthony Zinno and Dan Shak were among the players that cashed but fell short of Day 3.

Day 1 ended with 106 players and the field climbed to 122 when late registration ended at the start of Day 2, up from 91 in 2019. The record-setting field for this tournament generated a prize pool of $1,137,650. The top 8 players returning tomorrow are guaranteed at least $32,162.

Remaining Payouts

The final eight players return on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. and play will continue until there is a winner. Blinds will continue in Level 18 at 8,000/16,000 with an ante of 24,000, and levels will once again last 90 minutes long.

Eric Froehlich Bags Chip Lead in Event #50: $600 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha

It was an action-packed opening day for Event #50: $600 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha that witnessed a total of 1,569 entries in this event that first was started in 2019 to generate an $800,190 prize pool. After 22 levels of play over the course of 13 hours, the field was whittled down to just 66 players who have all secured a spot in the money.

The chip leader returning for Day 2 is two-time WSOP bracelet winner Eric Froehlich (2,550,000) who was once the youngest player to win a bracelet. Both Froehlich and Kris Burchfield (2,530,000) are the only two players to finish the night with over 2 million in chips. Mario Arribas (1,730,000), Michael Thomas (1,620,000), and Trenton Vaderlake (1,030,000) will be among the player to keep an eye on Wednesday's Day 2.

Event #50 Day 1 Top 10 Chip Counts

The current schedule indicates that play will continue until a winner is crowned on Day 2 at 12 p.m. local time on Wednesday in the Amazon room (Gold Section) with the blinds resuming on level 23. The blinds will be 15,000/30,000 with a 30,000 big blind ante when playing. The levels will be 30 minutes on Day 2 with a 15-minute break after every three levels with the dinner break yet to be determined.

Jun Obara Bags Top Stack After Day 1 of Event #51: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed

Day 1 of Event #51: $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed is in the books after 21 levels of play. The event attracted a massive field of 997 poker enthusiasts but only 41 of them were able to find a bag for Day 2.

The Amazon room was packed with many notables and at the end of the day, it was Jun Obara who bagged the chip lead with an impressive stack of 3,010,000, the only stack above the 3 million mark.

Following behind Obara was Rostyslav Sabishchenko (2,020,000), Tuan Phan (2,000,000), John Gallaher (1,700,000), and Brian Rast (1,665,000).

Event #51: $3,000 6-Handed NLHE Day 1 Top 10 Chip Counts

Other notables who made a Day 2 birth include Chad Norton (1,090,000). Norton, who just won his first WSOP bracelet in Event #46: $800 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack, will look to go for gold in back-to-back events in his first two WSOP live events, Alex Kulev (1,055,000), as well WSOP bracelet winners Manig Loeser (1,000,000), Sejin Park (920,000), and Alan Sternberg (505,000).

The remaining 42 players have all locked up at least $10,803, but everyone will have their eyes on the top prize of $474,102 and the prestigious WSOP gold bracelet.
