The announcement you have all been waiting for is finally here: the confirmed dates and schedule for the 2024 edition of the Irish Open. Keep March 25 through April 1 free in your calendar because that is when you need to be at the Royal Dublin Society in Ballsbridge, Dublin, the venue for the PokerStars and Paddy Power Poker-sponsored 2024 Irish Open.

March 25 sees the first three events of the bustling schedule take place. The 2024 Irish Open kicks off with a €350 buy-in six-handed No-Limit Hold'em affair, but is a brand new tournament that shuffles up and deals a few hours later that is catching the eye of value seekers.

The Mini Irish Open is a new addition to this year's schedule. It boasts a €500,000 guarantee despite only costing €200 to enter. There are nine starting flights running through the festival, each with unlimited re-entries allowed, with the final day scheduled for April 1.

€1 Million Guaranteed Irish Open Main Event

The €1,150 buy-in Irish Open Main Event starts on March 27 with the first of four Day 1s. Each Main Event player sits down armed with 30,000 chips and plays to a 45-minute clock where the blinds start at only 100/100. A single re-entry per flight is permitted, and the organizers promise to pay out at least €1 million to those players finishing in the money place.

The €1 million guarantee will likely be blown out of the water. Not only are there over 50 seats waiting to be won across live satellites, but PokerStars and Paddy Power Poker will be hosting satellites for online poker grinders. Last year, over 600 players won their seats online, helping create a huge 2,491-strong field and a €2,428,725 prize pool. Expect some Irish Open-specific promotions running online this Autumn and in the run-up to the 2024 Irish Open festival.

Dozens of household names have got their hands on the Irish Open Main Event's trophy and bankroll-boosting top prize over the years. Colette Doherty won the first Irish Open Main Event back in 1980, and is one of only four players to have won the tournament twice. Noel Furlong, Mickey Finn, and the late Liam Flood are the other two double Irish Open Main Event champions.

Other champions include Joe Beevers, Neil Channing, Ian Simpson, and Griffin Benger. Pablo Silva and Pavel Veksler won the two Irish Open Main Event's held online.

Steve O'Dwyer outlasted 2,039 opponents in 2022, and received €318,700 of the €1,989,000 prize pool. O'Dwyer, an American superstar who has adopted Dublin, Ireland, as his home, defeated popular Scotsman Kyle Maguire heads-up.

Scotland's David Doherty is the reigning champion, having come out on top of a 2,491-strong field in 2023, a fantastic result that earned Doherty a career-best €365,000.
