The World Poker Tour (WPT) $3,500 buy-in, $2 million GTD WPT Cyprus Championship continued on Sunday at the Chamada Prestige Hotel & Casino as 70 players from a 775-entry field return for Day 3 action and compete for a share of a $2,402,500 prize pool, well ahead of the $2 million guarantee.

By the end of the night, just seven players remained with Uladzimir Zhyharau best positioned to make a run at the $401,100 top prize as the chip leader with 9,450,000. On the other end of the spectrum is the short-stacked Elena Litviniuk (lead photo), who seeks to become just the third woman in WPT history to grace the Mike Sexton Champions Cup.

Day 1a chip leader Aleksandr Pak made a deep run but ultimately fell in 10th place. According to the WPT Live Updates, it happened in Level 28 (75,000/125,000/125,000) when Ignacio Sole moved all in from the button and Pak called off for 1.5 million from the big blind with the KQ.

He was ahead of Sole’s 108, but not after the flop fell 1072. Neither the 2 turn nor 8 river helped Pak and he took home $38,500 for his deep run.

The final nine players then combined to a single live-streamed final table, and after only seven hands of play Koray Korkmaz hit the rail after failing to win a raise with ace-king against Nikolai Zhadanov’s two red nines.

Two hands later, Rafal Chmura min-raised to 250,000 from the hijack and then moved all in for 3,725,000 after Tobias Garp had three-bet to 800,000 out of the big blind. Garp called off for 3,250,000 with the QQ and was ahead of Chmura’s AJ. However, the board ran out A62107 and Garp was eliminated in eighth place for $49,000.

Tobias Garp
Tobias Garp fell in 8th place.

The final seven players played an additional dozen hands before bagging on Day 3. On Monday, those players will return at 1:00 p.m. local time for the Day 4 finale to play down to a winner.
