Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) Not Slowing Down After Biggest Event of the Year

The Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) is less than a week removed from having hosted its biggest event of the year, but the nonprofit isn't slowing down its efforts to raise money for noble causes.
The CSOP's "Viva St. Jude" event took place at Red Rock Casino Resort in Las Vegas and helped Viva St. Jude cross the milestone of raising more than $1 million for kids in need, something CSOP founder Matt Stout called a "surreal moment in my nonprofit career."
Now, the charity poker series is gearing up for its "Bet on a Better Las Vegas" event on Oct. 24 at The Stirling Club in Las Vegas in partnership with the Junior League of Las Vegas.
"Viva St. Jude" Brings Out Poker Community
Last week's "Viva St. Jude" event drew a wide array of poker community members, including CSOP veterans Mike Matusow, Matt Savage and Joey Ingram, Vegas grinders Joe Berg and John Avelino, and Cheyenne Ivey, the sister of poker legend Phil Ivey and founder of Ivey Solutions, a sponsor of the CSOP.
Poker commentator and comedian Joe Stapleton emceed the event, which kicked off with touching remarks from a former St. Jude patient who credited the children's research hospital with saving his life. Others in the crowd included Fat Mike of NOFX fame, adult actress Katie Morgan and Ink Master champion Joey Hamilton.
PokerNews' own Chad Holloway, Adam Peiken, Tyler Boyer and Connor Richards were also among those in attendance.
LoriAnn Persinger, a local grinder with over $350,000 in Hendon Mob earnings, was among those who reached the final table. Edgar Alavez came out on top to win the trophy and his choice of a seat to either the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event or World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship.

The CSOP is now taking its festivities back to The Stirling Club for "Bet on a Better Las Vegas", an event that will raise money for the Junior League of Las Vegas.
Doors open for the Oct. 24 event at 5 p.m. local time, with a cocktail hour and silent auction taking place at 5:30 p.m. The $200 buy-in tournament will kick off at 7 p.m. and will award $5,000 in cash and over $10,000 in donated prizes.
“In true Las Vegas fashion, this event blends the thrill of the game with the power of philanthropy," Junior League of Las Vegas President Kristina Villardi said in a press release. "Every chip represents another step toward advancing our work and an investment in the future of Las Vegas. The funds we raise translate directly into programs that support women, children, and families across Southern Nevada."
