Here’s how things stacked up at the start of the episode:
| Seat | Player | Stack | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Xuan Liu | $18,975 | -$1,125 |
| 2 | Phillip Hellmuth III | $4,900 | -$5,100 |
| 3 | Randy “3Coin” Sadler | $20,475 | -$7,625 |
| 4 | Nevada | $3,375 | - $11,625 |
| 5 | Dan “Jungleman” Cates | $18,950 | +$8,950 |
| 6 | Phil Hellmuth | $10,475 | +$5,475 |
| 7 | DJ Washburn | $20,650 | +$10,650 |
The game was played with $25/$50 blinds with a $50 big blind ante, and more often than not a $100 straddle was on. Here’s a look at some of the biggest hands from the episode.
3Coin vs. Jungleman in Cooler Hand
Phillip Hellmuth III raised it up to $350 from early position with the K♦J♦ and Randy “3Coin” Sadler called next to act with the 10♠10♦ in the hijack. Dan “Jungleman” Cates then three-bet to $1,600 with the A♥K♣ on the button and action folded around.
3Coin accidentally called out of turn, and Hellmuth III got out of the way.
“Bad mistake, probably on both parts,” an apologetic 3Coin said before the flop came down A♦7♠10♣.
3Coin checked his set and Cates continued for $1,225 with top pair. 3Coin woke up with a check-raise to $3,000 and Cates just called to see the cooler A♣ on the turn.
“All in,” 3Coin announced with a covering stack.
“I call,” Cates said with a shrug before putting in his remaining $11,375 to create a pot of $32,525. 3Coin only runs it once and the 5♣ turn was a safe card for him to bust Jungleman, who proceeded to reload for $15,000.
“I’m Gonna Call But I Don’t Like It”
Nevada called $50 under the gun with the Q♦J♦ and Cates raised to $300 with the 7♣2♥, the worst hand in poker, next to act. Action folded around to 3Coin, who called from the big blind with the K♠7♠, and Nevada put in an additional $250 to make it three-way action to a flop of A♣K♣10♠.
3Coin checked his pair, and Nevada checked behind with the flopped nuts. Cates made it three checks to bring the 7♦ on the turn. 3Coin improved to two pair and led out for $600, which Nevada just called with the nuts. Cates got out of the way and the 5♦ completed the board on the river. 3Coin checked and Nevada bet $600.
“I’m gonna call but I don’t like it,” 3Coin offered to see the $3,375 pot pushed to his opponent.
Xuan Picks the Wrong Time to Move All In
Xuan Liu raised to $400 from early position with the K♣Q♣ and Cates three-bet to $1,400 from the small blind with the 10♣9♣. DJ Washburn was in the straddle and looked down at the A♥A♣, which prompted him to four-bet to $3,900.
Xuan asked how much he was playing before she, with the biggest stack, moved all in. Cates quickly got out of the way and Washburn did the patented two-hand rapid shove of all his chips into the middle of the pot.
With $2,8,400 at stake, the duo agreed to run it twice. The 7♦9♦5♣7♥4♣ on the first runout was safe for Washburn and he locked up half the pot. The 5♦2♦J♥2♣10♠ on the second had Xuan drawing dead on the turn, and Washburn shipped the big double.
3Coin Stabs at It on the River
3Coin limped for $100 from the hijack with the 4♣2♣ and Nevada did the same with the 8♣7♦ in the cutoff. Cates then raised to $400 from the button and action folded back to 3Coin, who called. Nevada got out of the way and it was heads-up action to a flop of 5♠K♥8♠.
3Coin didn’t have much of anything but led out for $500 nonetheless. Cates just called with bottom set and the 6♥ appeared on the turn. 3Coin picked up a double gutshot straight draw, and he checked to Cates, who bet $1,300.
3Coin called but missed when the 10♥ appeared on the turn. The two players engaged in some back-and-forth table talk before 3Coin, who couldn’t win if he didn’t bet, made it $3,000 to go. Cates took a while to determine what to do before moving all in.
Of course, 3Coin folded and then slid his cards over to Cates to take a look at his failed bluff.
“Fold the Unfoldable”
Phillip Hellmuth III opened for $150 under the gun with the K♠J♥ only to have 3Coin three-bet to $300 next to act with the A♣9♣. Cates cold-called with the 7♠7♣ in the cutoff, Hellmuth did the same from the button with the K♣Q♣, and DJ Washburn came along from the small blind with the J♣3♣.
When action was on Xuan in the big blind, she looked down at the A♦K♦ and four-bet to $2,000. Hellmuth III folded, 3Coin and Cates called, and action was on Hellmuth.
“I have an unfoldable hand. I can’t raise,” he said. “I’m trying to find a way to fold the unfoldable. I feel like if I play thin hand I will end up with $30,000 and then I might double again. I just can’t folded it.”
Hellmuth called, Washburn folded, and it was four-way action to a flop of 8♠7♦6♥. Xuan missed the flop and with three players to act behind her, she checked. 3Coin bet $5,000 with his open-ended straight draw and Cates moved all in for $16,675 with his set. Hellmuth and Xuan folded before 3Coin called off for $15,325 to create a $39,150 pot.
Cates asked 3Coin how many times he wanted to run it, and true to form, he said just once. It proved a wise decision as the 10♥ appeared on the turn to give him the straight, and he held when the 2♦ completed the board on the river.
With that, Jungleman was left with just $1,350, though he did reload once again.
Here’s how things looked at the end of the episode.
