Third time won't be the charm for NBA superstar Tony Parker, who busted out of the 2025 WSOP Super Main Event before the Day 1d dinner break.

Parker has played in the last two WSOP Paradise Main Events, drawing attention last year after folding pocket kings pre-flop on Day 1a. This time, he did manage to go one better in poker's hand rankings, picking up pocket aces against Portuguese player Hugo Machado.

Unfortunately for Parker, a safe-looking flop would ultimately spell disaster, and he would be eliminated. The tournament has so far attracted over 2,400 entries and surpassed its lofty $60,000,000 guarantee midway earlier today.

Aces No Good for Parker

Parker had started the day with a starting stack of 500,000 chips, but had dwindled to 220,000.

It folded around to Parker in the small blind with AA who raised to 30,000 with the blinds at 5,000/10,000/10,000.

Portuguese player Hugo Machado was in the big blind and defended with J7

The flop came J75 giving Machado two pair. Parker continued for 30,000 and Machado called.

Parker shoved the Q turn for 164,000 — he had started the hand with just 22 big blinds — and Machado snap-called.

The river was the 4 and Parker was eliminated. He re-entered, and is now seated a table which features high roller heavyweight Artur Martirosian.

Who is Tony Parker?

Tony Parker is a French-American former professional basketball player. During his 17 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs (2001–2018), Parker won four NBA championships (2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014).

In 2007, he was named NBA Finals MVP, a first for a European player. A six-time NBA All-Star, Parker was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023.

Parker played the WSOP Main Event in 2021 and, according to the Hendon Mob, his solitary live poker cash came in 2023 when he finished 235th in the $1,00 Mini Main Event for $1,900.
