Brian Rast and Gus Hansen Play Slow, Then Fast on Poker After Dark
This week PokerGO featured two nights' worth of mixed game fun on Poker After Dark, presented under the heading of "Godfather Week" thanks to the participation of Poker Hall of Famer Doyle Brunson.
Joining Brunson for the rotation of H.O.R.S.E. games plus 2-7 triple draw were Gus Hansen, Brian Rast, Scott Seiver, Bryn Kenney, Jared Bleznick, and Billy O'Neil, with Dan Cates also taking a seat for the second night.
With limits of $1,500/$3,000, there was a lot of action and some decent-sized pots. One example of both came in a limit hold'em hand between Hansen and Rast, one that began with the often loose Hansen cheekily raising from the hijack seat with just . Rast picked up from the button and three-bet, and when it folded back to Hansen he called.
The flop fell , giving Hansen trips. He checked, then check-raised after Rast bet and got a call. After that initial bit of slow playing, Hansen was ready to play fast and led with the bigger $3K bet on the turn, but alas for him the card was the to give Rast kings full.
"Gussy... that's what you get, pal," cracked Nick Schulman on the commentary.
Here Rast was the one playing it slow, only calling Hansen's turn bet. Then following the turn card, things get fast again. Take a look, and see whether or not Hansen is ultimately able to find a fold:
