Life Outside Poker is a podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 25th episode, Connor speaks with embattled poker pro Brad Booth about learning poker from his grandfather, climbing up stakes in Canada, living at the Bellagio and playing in Bobby's Room, bluffing Phil Ivey and getting cheated on Ultimate Bet.
Booth, who the poker community hasn't heard from for several years, opened up about his absence and going missing in 2020, as well as his gambling addiction and various poker debts to players like Doug Polk that he says he plans to make right.
"I got caught up in all of it and all I can try and do is make right now," he told PokerNews of his poker debts.
With around 7,000 in the pot, Kevin Frame and Ben McCann saw the turn on a board of 10♠9♥2♠7♦. Frame then bet 3,500 from the hijack and McCann called in the big blind.
The river was the K♠ and Frame bet 30,000, enough to put McCann all in. McCann only had around 6,000 remaining and quickly folded as Frame took the pot without a showdown.
Marius Varanavicius was in the big blind and three-bet to 5,000. Matthew Davenport then four-bet to 10,000 under the gun, Varanavicius moved all in, and Davenport quickly called for 25,000.
Matthew Davenport: A♠K♣
Marius Varanavicius: A♥A♣
Varanavicius had woken up with aces to leave Davenport at serious risk of elimination. The 7♥9♣2♠6♦10♣ board provided no help and Davenport was sent to the rail.
Derek Malone raised to 1,600 under the gun before Robbie Bull three-bet to 4,500 in the cutoff. Sinead Davenport then four-bet to 11,000 on the button and a player in the small blind moved all in for 15,000. Malone folded, but Bull reshoved and Davenport got out of the way.
All-In Player: Q♣Q♦
Robbie Bull: K♣K♥
Bull's kings had his opponent's queens dominated as the flop came J♣6♦7♥. The J♦ turn was safe for Bull, while the river was the 2♠ and Bull scored the knockout.
