Ivan Pips Davis to Send Him Out the Door

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

We missed the preflop action but we do know Matt Davis got his last 15,000 or so all in preflop and was at risk against Alex Ivan, who had him crushed.

Davis: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Ivan: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Davis was looking to get lucky but instead the {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{j-Spades} flop gave Ivan a set. Davis picked up a gutshot straight draw but his outs were killed when Ivan filled up on the {J-Clubs} turn.

The meaningless {6-Clubs} was run out on the river and Davis headed for the rail.

Big Slick Does the Trick for Geyer

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Lynn Geyer
Lynn Geyer

The under-the-gun player limped and a middle-position player raised to 4,100. The small blind then moved all in for 8,700 and Lynn Geyer called out of the big.

The UTG limper folded, the raiser called, and the flop came down {2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

Geyer check-called a bet of 7,500 to create a side pot and then action went check-check on the {A-Diamonds} turn as well as the {8-Spades} river.

The original raiser showed the {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} but it was no good as Geyer had turned a bigger pair with her {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. She also won the main pot and notched the elimination as the small blind's {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} was out kicked.

Let's Have a Break

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Level 8 has come and gone. That means it's time for another 10-minute break. Late registration and re-entry will come to a close at the start of Level 9. That said, the Day 1C flight is slated to start at 6 p.m. local time so players will have another opportunity to play tonight if need be.

Schoderbock Continues to Build

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

In the last hand of Level 8, Walter Schoderbock limped from the hijack and then called a raise to 3,500 from the player on the button.

When the flop fell {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades}, Schoderbock led out for 7,000 and that's all it took as the button quickly folded.

Schoderbock then showed the {a-Hearts}{8-Spades} for top pair.

Jason from the Block

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Two players each put in 3,200 preflop and watched the flop come down {3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

Jason Block, who was in the big blind, led out for 2,200 and his opponent on the button called.

Both players then checked the {10-Clubs} turn as well as the {9-Clubs} river.

The button showed the {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} but it was no good as Block had a pair with his {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

One for Schoderbock

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

The under-the-gun player opened for 1,600 and a player in middle position called. The small blind came along, as did Walter Schoderbock in the big, and four players took a flop of {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

The small blind led out for 2,100, Schoderbock called, and the other two players folded to make it heads-up action to the {10-Clubs} turn.

Action went check-check and repeated itself on the {6-Diamonds} river.

The small blind showed the {a-Hearts}{7-Spades} for a pair of aces but Schoderbock got lucky by making two pair on the river with his {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.
