Nam Le has been building a stack for much of the day and that has continued during the sixth level.
We recently watched Le scoop quite a large pot on the turn of a board. There was already well over 10,000 in the pot at this point and Le had led out for 7,100 into one opponent. The player tanked and eventually folded a face up.
Firstly Didier Guerin was eliminated when all in holding , three-way against and and both an and a were dealt on the felt. Then Full Tilt ANZPT Ambassador Liam O'Rourke was also spotted on the rail, but he doesn't seem too upset considering his latest tweet.
Ricky Kroesen has been eliminated in a fairly brutal fashion during the fifth level of Day 1b of the ANZPT Sydney Main Event.
Apparently action folded to the small blind, who limped in. Kroesen looked down at and jammed for 6,500 - around 16 big blinds. The small blind tank called with just .
The board was a bad run out for Kroesen and it was all over.
Luca Borreggine has just landed a remarkable double up with the fall of a rather fortunate turn card. Borreggine started things off by limping under the gun. Edison Nguyen raised it up to 1,050 from middle position and that was called by the player in the hijack seat. Action folded back to Borreggine who called to see a flop of .
Play was passed around the table to the player in position who bet 2,100. Borreggine then popped it to 6,100 to force Nguyen from the hand. The player in the hijack them announced himself all in and Borreggine confidently plonked out his chips to call.
Borreggine opened for top two but he was in trouble as his opponent opened for a set of threes! Borreggine was on the verge of elimination when the fell from the sky onto the turn to the roars from the table as Borreggine made a bigger full house. The river was the to see Borreggine double through to around 65,000 in chips.
Marcel Naboulsi has had a massive Day 1b so far. He was the first player to move his stack above 100,000 and now sits with 175,000 after taking down another massive pot.
We picked up the action on the turn of a board, with a big pot already out on the felt. Sheldon Mayer was rumbling with Naboulis and it was he who led for 6,300. Naboulsi called and a completed the board on the river.
At this point Mayer got out of his seat, looked intently at the board and moved all in for around 20,000. Naboulsi immediately called and tabled for a straight. Mayer’s cards went into the muck, he made his way out of the tournament area and more chips went into the ever-growing stack of Naboulsi.
Considering the average stack is under 30,000, it is safe to say that Naboulsi is dominating.
The official numbers are in and the prize pool has been set!
Day 1b featured a field of 247 players, which added with the 211 from Day 1a, means 458 total players created a very large $916,000 prize pool. Of that amount, the eventual winner will pocket the biggest chunk, taking home $225,300. A spot on the final table will secure at least $17,400, while the top 54 players pick up at least $3,650.
