Slow Into the Break

Things have slowed down dramatically since the last elimination.

If the players are taking flops they are checking them down the vast majority of the time.

Recently, David Hilton opened to 81,000 and Dong-bin Han called from the small blind.

They took checked the {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop and the {5-Spades} turn. On the {k-Spades} river Han bet out 235,000 and took it down.

Somyung Claws Up the Counts

Dong-bin Han hasn't been afraid to play pots at any stage of this tournament. He was in there again with Sim Somyung. The action was light until the river, where Han fired out a bet of 125,000 with the board showing {6-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {10-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {6-Spades}. Somyun called with top pair {K-Spades} {J-Diamonds}, handily beating Han's pair of queens, {Q-?} {J-?}.

Big Pot for Hilton

Some big pots develop very, very quietly. We didn't even realize that David Hilton and Sim Somyung were playing a pot until the action got to the turn. There, with the board showing {5-Clubs} {A-Spades} {j-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}, Somyung made a big bet of 250,000. Hilton silently called, sliding two stacks of yellow chips and two orange chips over the betting line. Both players checked the {9-Spades} river, with Hilton showing down {k-Diamonds} {k-Spades} to take the pot.

Han Halts Hilton

David Hilton opened from the button to 76,000 and was three-bet by Dong-bin Han to 228,000. After some thought Hilton made the call and they went heads up to an {8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{k-Clubs} flop.

Both players checked and the turn was the {6-Hearts}. This time Han bet 104,000 and Hilton called. The river was the {A-Spades} and Han bet 290,000. This sent Hilton into the tank and after a while he squeezed his cards, and then pitched them into the muck.

Dong-bin Han Rivers a Chop

We've seen the Koreans at this final table make some adventurous plays. Dong-ban Han made another but managed to squeak out a chop. He opened the pot from the button for a standard raise before Kevin Clark re-raised all in, an additional 409,000 back to Han. Han tanked about a minute before calling with {K-Spades} {10-Spades}. He found himself dominated by Clark's {A-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}. But the Korean has been running good this week, so no surprise that the board ran out {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} to give each player the same full house, fives full of tens, and a chopped pot.

Terry Fan Eliminated in 5th Place ($29,000)

Preflop, Sim Somyung opened to 75,000 from middle position. Terry Fan three-bet all in to 555,000 from the button and Dong-bin Han instantly called from the small blind. Action folded back to Somyung who asked for a count on Terry Fan. Before the dealer had a chance to count if off, he thought better of it, and folded.

Han: {Q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Fan: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Fan was going to need some help, and the {3-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{a-Spades} flop was not it. Nor was the {2-Diamonds} turn.

"One time dealer," said Fan hoping to hit his set on the river. It wasn't to be, the {3-Hearts} completed the board and sent Fan out in fifth place.

Hilton Plays Aces Slowly

David Hilton and Dong-bin Han were each dealt a big hand, yet somehow the betting didn't get crazy out of control. The pot was raised preflop, with both players checking a {10-Spades} {5-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} flop. On the {J-Diamonds} turn Hilton led out for 76,000. Han raised 101,000 more on top of that, with Hilton quickly calling. He then checked the {k-Diamonds} river and called a bet of 129,000. Han showed down {A-Spades} {K-Spades} for a rivered pair of kings, but lost the pot to Hilton's very surprising {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}!
