Zheng Deals Double KO

Jackson Zheng
Jackson Zheng

Jackson Zheng has just dealt the fatal blow to two of the prominent players in today's field, while also making his stack the first to soar past the 200,000-chip mark.

The first elimination occured when Zheng opened the action from the button and Jesse McKenzie three-bet from the big blind. Zheng re-raised and when McKenzie shipped the remainder of his stack in, McKenzie made the call and would need some that would never come, holding {10-Spades}{k-Clubs} against the {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} of Zheng.

The very next hand would see PokerStars Team Online Pro Dale Philip move all-in from the big blind over the top of Zheng's open from the cutoff. Philip held {k-Spades}{2-Spades} and was looking okay against the {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} of Zheng. That was, until the board was dealt {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, the eight on the flop enough for Zheng to eliminate two players in back-to-back hands.

Cohen Continues

Hugh Cohen has continued his rise up the chip leaderboard, with more of Cole Swannack's chip added to the growing stack of Cohen.

The action started with Cole Swannack opening from late position, whereby Cohen three-bet behind him. The blind players got out of the way and Swannack announced he was all-in, having Cohen well covered. Cohen made the call and the players would turn their hands over.

Cohen: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Swannack: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Board: {7-Spades}{q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

With no danger cards for Cohen, it was another double-up.

Dale Doubles

Dale Philip
Dale Philip

PokerStars Team Online Pro Dale Philip has had a bit of a rollercoaster day but now that he has made a double-up maybe things will slow down for the Scottish pro.

Marcel Schreiner started the action with a raise from late position and when the decision was on Philip in the cutoff seat, he would shove the remainder of his chips in the middle. When Schreiner called, the two players turned their hands over.

Schreiner: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Philip: {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

The board ran out {j-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}, with the flopped two-pair and no five to be seen sending the pot to Philip, as he now sits with a healthy stack.

Edwards Exits

Luke Edwards
Luke Edwards

It was all-in preflop for Luke Edwards with his {8-}{8-} going toe-to-toe with the {a-}{k-} of New Zealand's Jackson Zheng.

The flop would contain a {k-} and the 2011 APPT Queenstown Main Event was all over for Edwards

Keep The Chips Coming

Hugh Cohen started the day with under 10,000 in chips, but now finds himself sitting behind a stack of around 60,000.

Cohen's rise up the chip counts culminated when Cohen was all-in preflop holding {a-Spades}{9-Hearts} and catching good against the {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} of Cole Swannack.

Turker Busto

Koray Turker
Koray Turker

It took Koray Turker a couple of days to get to this stage of the tournament, while it only took a couple of hands to see his tournament life end.

Turker was left short-stacked after he lost the majority of his chips to Marcel Schreiner, with Turker holding {j-Spades}{4-Diamonds} on a board showing {4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} against the {8-Hearts}{10-Hearts} of Schreiner. All of Schreiner's chip were in the middle on the turn and when Turker lost the pot it was a double-up for Schreiner, while Turker was left with around 5,000 in chips.

A few hands later and Turker would have the action folded to him in the cutoff, where he shoved holding {5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. Jamie Lunt was in the big blind and he called with {q-Spades}{2-Spades}. The board ran out {3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs}, the queen-high holding up for Lunt, and with that Turker was out the door after having a six-figure chip stack for a large period of the day.

Xia Dong Double

The action started with a raise to 2,400 from Xia Dong Xia in middle position with Brian Biggs making the call from the big blind.

Flop: {k-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Biggs would check to Dong Xia who made it 5,000 to go. Biggs made the call and the {9-Spades} turn was dealt. Biggs would again check and this time Dong Xia would move all-in for around 35,000. Biggs made the call and would be behind with his {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} against the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} of Dong Xia.

A bricked river would ensure the pot went to Dong Xia as Biggs stack is now looking bleak and Dong Xia is looking strong.

More Casualties

Familton Fumbles

Jesse McKenzie got the ball rolling, opening to 2,000 from late position. Koray Turker then raised to 5,000 from the hijack seat before Greg Familton moved all-in for his remaining 14,600 in the big blind seat. McKenzie got out of the way and Turker made the call.

Turker: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Familton: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Familton would need to dodge some cards if he was going to stay alive, but when the board rolled out {4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} the queen on the river would see the end of Familton's tournament life.
