Another Break

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Approximately 107 players have made their way on a 10-minute break here on Day 2 of the APPT Melbourne Main Event.

Will be back to it soon!

David the Barbari-YAN

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

[Removed:17] is now sitting over 400,000 in chips after taking out Benjamin Volpe.

Yan started the hand by opening to 5,000 from under the gun and only getting called by Volpe. The flop came down {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Yan threw out a continuation bet of 4,500 which was called. With the {a-Hearts} falling on the turn, Yan kept up his aggression with another bet of 11,000. Volpe made the call as the {8-Clubs} completed the board.

This time Yan reached for his chips and threw out 40,000 in chips, which had Volpe covered. He eventually made the call but mucked his hand when he was shown {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flopped flush.

Zalac Sends One Home

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ivan Zalac has just made a big river call to scoop a huge pot and eliminate Petar Vujic in the process. Vujic was short-stacked and all in when we arrived to see a bet of 20,000 in front of a player into a healthy side pot on the board of {2-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Zalac thought for quite a few minutes, asking for a count of his opponent's stacl and spreading the pot, before making the call.

Vujic showed {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for two pair, while the other live player had {q-}{j-}, however Zalac had them both covered with his {q-}{k-}.

Vujic is out as Zalac climbs up to 200,000.

Counts From the Other Half

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Check out the approximate chip counts of some of the notable players from the other half of the Crown Poker Room.

Karamalikis Rising

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We arrived at the table to find 50,000 already in the middle of the table and the board showing {3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

Jonathan Karamalikis had bet out 18,000 and was waiting on Kwong Phung to make a decision. He eventually made a call, only to muck angrily when Karamalikis tabled his {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for two pair.

Phung tapped the table, as Karamalikis raked in the big pot to see him move to 150,000 in chips.

Huge Day for Yan

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Kiwi [Removed:17] has had a huge day at the felt early on Day 2 of the APPT Melbourne Main Event, managing to accumulate chips and sit with a stack of around 350,000 in chips. Yan finished 6th in this year's Aussie Millions Main Event.

Mason Flushes Botta

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Ash Mason opened to 2,600 from the cut off before Daniel Botta raised it up to 5,000 from the small blind. Mason made the call before the dealer spread out the {4-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Spades} flop.

Botta threw out a continuation bet of 5,000 before Mason made it 12,500 to go. Botta didn’t hesitate, reaching for his chip stack and throwing out 25,000 in chips. Mason went into the tank for over a minute, before opting to move all in for an additional 25,800. Botta was taken back by the shove, and tanked over his decision. He finally made the call and both players tabled their cards.

Botta: {5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Mason: {7-Spades}{8-Spades}

Mason had flopped a flush and had Botta drawing dead as the meaningless {k-Spades} and {k-Hearts} ran out on the board.
