Welcome to the 2019 PokerStars APPT Manila
The festival of 2019 PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour Manila started on Friday, July 26 with the ₱16,000 APPT Kickoff NL Hold'em, but PokerNews' coverage starts today. The ₱33,000 APPT National NL Hold'em - Single Re-Entry is welcoming the players with Day 1a, starting at 5:00 p.m. local time, in Okada Manila.
The festival consists of 25 events and PokerNews will bring you updates from three of them: The APPT National, Main Event and the ₱500,000 Super High Roller.
While it is the Main Event that will be holding most of the players' attention, the PokerNews live reporting team will be bringing you every little detail of these events, and everything else that happens during APPT Manila 2019.
The previous APPT Manila Series took place at a similar time last year during the Platinum Pass fever sweeping the poker world, drawing record-breaking fields. While it remains to be seen if the 2019 edition will surpass those numbers, the organizers are expecting a big turnout this year too, in the sunny, rainy and hot weather of Manila.
The National event starts today, Sunday, July 28, with Day 1a. Players will begin with a 30,000 starting stack, doing battle at the baize over thirteen 40-minute levels. There will be a 10-minute break after every three levels, and the level length will increase to 60 minutes when the final table begins. Late registration will be open until Level 9 of each starting flight, meaning that the final registering level will be 500/1,000 with a 1,000 big blind ante. All players will have the option of a single re-entry during each starting flight.
It was local hero Marc Rivera who triumphed over the 829-strong APPT National 2018 field to take title plus the ₱4.55M top prize and, if the numbers in the 924-strong opening APPT Kickoff event are anything to go by, expectations are high for another large turnout.
