The first flight of the 2019 APPT Manila National is over after it attracted 236 entrants. By the end of the day just 60 players remained and advanced to Day 2 on Tuesday, July 30th.

Several notable players jumped in the field including EPT Sochi champion Uri Gilboa and APPT Jeju National champion Liang Song along with other notables Pete Chen, Aditya Sushant and Rex Clinkscales.

After 13 levels, none of the above players were still in the field, and they will have to make it through Day 1b to join the players advancing to Day 2.

Sitting at the top of the pile is Alex Lee with 327,500. Not far behind him is Hsien Yuan Yang whose kings sent a player to the rail in the penultimate level of the evening to also move over 300,000, eventually bagging 312,500.

Other big stacks advancing include Dai Liuheng (274,500), Jie Pan (272,500), Richard Marquez (225,000) and Sim Kok Wai (201,000). Russia's Elfrida Bambutsa was an early chip leader and she too bagged up at the end of the night with a stack of 145,000.

Day 1b of the APPT Manila National gets underway 29th July 29th at 17:00 local time. Stay tuned to PokerNews for continued live coverage as the festival continues!

Jimmie Javier Goes From Hell to Heaven

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Jimmie Javier has had many changes in his stack, and the most recent was a good one for him.

It didn't seem as such though, since he put his chips in the middle on an {8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop with queens, to face his opponent's pocket eights with a top set.

The {6-Diamonds} on the turn didn't change anything, but the {q-Diamonds} on the river was crucial for his tournament life, as it gave him a double up.

Hsien Yuan Yang: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
All-In Player: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Han Takes Some Off Udayakumar

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Arravind Udayakumar raised from middle position to 4,500 and Taehoon Han was the only caller, from the small blind.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, and Han check-called a bet at 5,000.

The {10-Spades} came on the turn, and Han check-called again, this time for 12,000.

The {k-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, and this time Udayakumar checked back, after Han's third check.

Han opened {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} with his pair of aces being good enough to give him the pot, since Udayakumar mucked.
