Hilberts Loses Massive Pot on the River

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Thijs Hilberts was facing a tough decision in the flop, where he had raised to 15,000 after his opponent's continuation-bet, and his opponent went all in for 75,000 chips.

Hilberts was considering whether to call or not, asking his opponent if he would show him his cards if he folds. His opponent replied that he will show only one, and after some more deliberation he decided to call. The other player in the hand said "Nice call," and the two players opened their cards.

Thijs Hilberts: {9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Hilberts was ahead with this pair but he still had to fade some outs. The {k-Hearts} on the turn gave some extra outs for a gutshot to the other player, and the {j-Clubs} on the river was one of them, prompting Hilberts to hit his card on the table with frustration.

Still, Hilberts has around 80,000 but with this pot he would have catapulted himself to the chip leaders of Day 1b.

Yu Folds to an Overbet

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Lei Yu was in the big blind, and defended after a raise from the cutoff player.

The flop was {2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Lei Yu check-called a bet for 5,000 chips.

The {k-Spades} fell on the turn and Yu check-called again, this time for 8,000.

The {3-Diamonds} was the last card of the board, and Yu checked for a third time, while his opponent fired an overbet for 50,000 chips.

Yu tanked for a couple of minutes, asked his opponent to show the rest of his stack, which was around 28,000, took away of his stack the required chips for a call, but eventually folded.

Chong Dodges Outs to Double Up

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Victor Chong got his last 45,800 chips in on a {3-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} flop against a single opponent.

Chong held {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for the nut flush draw and middle pair and was in good shape against the inferior flush draw of his opponent with {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

His opponent did have a gutshot straight draw but the {3-Spades}{2-Hearts} run out was not what he was looking for and Chong doubled up.
