MacNaughton Rivers Lackovic

Aleks Lackovic has been eliminated after shoving over the top of the opening raise from John MacNaughton.

MacNaughton made the call with {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} up against Lackovic's {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. The flop paired Lackovic when it landed {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}, and the {2-Clubs} on the turn was safe but the river was the {10-Spades} to give MacNaughton the two-outer victory on the river to bust Lackovic. MacNaughton is up to 55,000.

Lee Nelson Crippled By Helen Davis

Lee Nelson on life support in this tournament
Lee Nelson on life support in this tournament
Lee Nelson has been crippled after he ran his {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} into the {A-Hearts}{a-Spades} of Helen Davis.

Davis got her stack all in on the flop of {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} with Nelson making the call with top two pair, only to run into Davis' set of aces. Drawing very thin, would turn into drawing dead after the {2-Spades} on the turn. The river was a brick {j-Hearts}.

Davis moved up to 23,000 after the hand, with Nelson dropping to 1,300 before almost tripling up to 3,500 the hand directly after. He still has a lot of work to do to reestablish himself in this tournament.

Must Be Nice

Josh "JJProdigy" Field is not, as some in the Shout Box would have you believe, at the police station reporting a robbery. He's in today's field and called the all-in preflop shove of a short stack. Field showed {9-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} against his opponent's {A-Spades} {7-Spades} and promptly flopped quads, {9-Spades} {9-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. He sent his opponent home empty-handed and climbed in the counts to 23,000.

Ben Delaney is Straighter than You

Liv Boeree, who had no impact on this hand.
Liv Boeree, who had no impact on this hand.
It was a three-way flop of {5-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {K-Hearts} that was contested among Liv Boeree, Ben Delaney and a third player. The third player led out for 1,200, getting a call from Delaney and a fold from Boeree. The turn came {9-Diamonds}. Delaney's opponent checked and then called a bet of 3,200 there, and check-called a bet of 3,000 on the {K-Clubs} river. Delaney turned over {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts} for a king-high straight. It was the winner, propelling him to 36,500 in chips.

Brandon Leeds Preflop, Eliminated by River

Brandon Leeds led the hand as all the money went in preflop. Leeds held {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} and was in good shape against his two opponents holding {A-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} respectively.

The hand would be a rollercoaster for Leeds, first with the flop {J-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} putting him behind. The turn {10-Clubs} making him a straight, and finally the river {4-Clubs} making one of his opponents a nut flush.

After the wild ride it was little wonder that Leeds was a little dissapointed as he headed for the rail.

Guttman Shows Top Set

Michael Guttman played his queens fast and hard, raising to 1,000 preflop and then reraising to 10,000 after an opponent three-bet to 4,500. Guttman's opponent called to a flop of {10-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {Q-Spades} that both players checked. Guttman moved in on the {9-Diamonds} turn, and then flashed {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} after his opponent folded. He's up to 31,000.

Edison Nguyen Busts Two

We caught the action with Rainer Quel putting in a preflop reraise to 7,500 from the button. Edison Nguyen then popped it up to 14,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded action was then back with a player in early position, who we assumed had opened the action, who decided to commit the last of his short stack. Rainer then also moved all in and Nguyen made a quick call, covering both opponents.

Nguyen: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Rainer: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
EP: {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

The flop brought a real sweat when it landed {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} however it was all over when the {7-Clubs} hit the turn to give Nguyen a full house. The river was the {9-Clubs} and Nguyen eliminates two players on his way to a stack of 67,000 chips!

Topakas Eliminates Rochford

Paul Rochford and Steve Topakas both made the final table of Event #1. There's no repeat for Rochford today. He was all in for 500 chips preflop before Topakas moved all in over the top of him, folding everyone else. Rochford showed a live ace, {A-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}, against the {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades} of Topakas, but he didn't connect. The board ran out {2-Spades} {Q-Spades} {10-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} to send Rochford to the rail.

Death By Toothpick

Antonis Kambouris
Antonis Kambouris
Antonis Kambouris has collected a nice pot up after pushing all in with {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} from the big blind against a short stack in the cutoff who held {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}.

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and the man with the toothpick takes it down to send another victim to the rail.

Back from Dinner, Assadourian Doubles Up

Eric Assadourian
Eric Assadourian
We're not sure what Eric Assadourian had for dinner. We each smashed a pizza and a few beers. Whatever Assadourian ate seems to have worked; he raised all in with {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} after John MacNaughton opened for 2,200. MacNaughton called with {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. Each player found himself looking for the other's outs when the flop fell {10-Spades} {4-Spades} {K-Hearts}. Assadourian emerged victorious when the turn came {J-Hearts} and the river was non-Broadway {2-Spades}. He doubled up to 19,500.
